I can only observe the glass indirectly, via sensory perception. Because of the oblique nature of this observation, I can never know for certain if the glass even exists, let alone whether or not it contains anything.

But I didn't answer your question, did I?

Extremely optimistic.

My glass isn't empty until I licked every bit of liquid right out of it.

You INTPs are so damned annoying when you do that.

The glass is clearly filled 100% with two different substances that each occupy roughly 50% of the glass.

Ironically, the glass is void of emptiness.

It depends on if I have any more of the liquid in the glass left in the fridge.

The glass is holding 50% (by volume) of the liquid it is capable of holding.

If I have to choose, though, it's half full.

I tend toward pessimism, though I work hard to try to be optimistic.

I believe I'm an optimist. What's the point otherwise?

Lol, usually I'm an optimist, but I hate to say I'm not a happy camper today
because even though there were a few little things I made sure to enjoy, the
things I'd planned on doing all day and got everything done ahead of time ju-
st so I would have time didn't seem to turn out right worth crap...I had that
two hours of wasted work feeling. But, I did however find out that most of it
was the stuff I was using for it had worn out and gotten crappy and it wasn't
all mistakes so maybe realizing things need to be replaced is fates way of hi-
nting that sometimes change is good.

some of you keep talking about a glass, there is no glass..... it's just a metaphor, we are talking about whether you believe in optimism or pessimism here. Nice try at diverting the subject though.

I was using the metaphor to explain my answer. I believe that there is an optimistic and a pessimistic view (among other views) of a situation and that they both must be looked at to wholly grasp the image.

why can't you simplfy things? Now I can simplify your answer to, in between.

After years of hearing the glass half empty / half full analogy, it just makes me want to take the glass and throw it against the wall. So that makes it fully empty.

But other than that, I'm optimistic.

Depends on your activity... filling the glass, in which case it will be half full, or drinking from it, half empty.

If that was the case, why not just ask: "Are you an optimist or a pessimist?"
