Take advantage of your introverted nature by being mysterious but giving just enough reaction to keep the other person engaged at first.

Show your intelligence in a non-offensive/belligerent way, as it is one of your biggest assets to turn a girl on :wubbie:

Don't be afraid to blush when teased, but also be able to bounce back and tease back. It's so hot and endearing :D

Be interested in the person you're trying to seduce: look at her, engage her in conversation and be respectful of her views of the world. Don't roll your eyes at her or try to educate her, but understand where she's coming from. That doesn't mean you have to agree! Just at least take a moment to consider what she's saying and ask an intelligent question about what she said without sounding dismissive of her point.

See, I find the mysterious/standoffish behavior really only works in movies or something. I think you have to be engaging, which is terrible news to me.

Shimmy's edited list was a good one though.

OMG, who talks about quantum mechanics in social-situation conversations??? And really, how does THAT work? "Your beauty reminds of Feynmann path integral formulation"? Why does QM have such an intellectual or whatever reputation? Physics has lots of topics, as does advanced mathematics. Other than quirkiness and the potential for philosophical interpreatations, what does QM really have going for it? Note: I took 4 years of QM in school.

"Your beauty reminds me of a tensor product. Now let us couple the wave equation to spin!"
"Baby, my ladder don't go below the ground state! Nor above the uppermost state!"
"You can index my spin states anytime you want!"
"I don't know everything about you and your hamiltonian, so lets approximate you with perturbation theory! How does first order time-independent sound? Giggity giggity giggity!"
"Your discussions about your eyeliner are more boring than sakurai. Heck, you make DJ Griffiths sound interesting!"
"Oh, I will show you quark confinement! strange and charm come and get me"
"I'll show YOU a Stern-Gerlach apparatus!"
"I'm more of a ladies man than Erwin Schrodinger! bow chicka wow wow"
and who can possibly forget
"Hey baby, wanna see my dirac delta function?"

What the devil...(?!)

Don't worry about being vulnerable; it's cute.
Being sincere is one of your best qualities.
Sometimes it's fun to hear you ramble (if you don't go too far).
Your mushiness has that uncanny ability to make people blush/call you corny/secretly like it.
You can be sympathetic about things and people that matter to you.
Also your habits of googling anything the person of your interest brings up are amusing. xD

personally, I think you guys can do better than "being cute" and waiting for something to happen. A little more emphasis on your dry sense of humor, please? You're trying to seduce here, not get picked up like an abandoned puppy. I'm disappointed that you're selling yourselves short. :coffee:

This one works, by the way.

Hello... Ehh...

... *checks pockets* ...

ehh.. One second..

..*checks last pocket and looks around.*..

..Damnit...

*look into the eyes, dead serious* I lost my pick up line.

Dazzle her with your wits and knowledge... the trick is this... are you ready?... write it down...

DO NOT FORGET TO BRING THE CONVERSATION BACK TO HER.

A 3 minute monologue timer should be set on your watch. That is all. Multiply and be merry.

Another thing. When talking to someone you just met, don't be afraid to touch the other person. Start with something like putting a hand on her shoulder when leaning in to hear her better or just slightly touch her for a very short time when you make a point. Later when you've established at least some of a connection ask for a high five, or put your hand on her lower back to guide her into another standing in another position or out of the way of other people. Even later, if you want to go somewhere else, maybe sit somewhere, hold her hand while going there. Or if the possibility arises, ask for a hug.

Gentlemen, in regards to these tips: Please don't overdo the touching, keep it delicate and innocent.

Dazzle her with your wits and knowledge... the trick is this... are you ready?... write it down...

DO NOT FORGET TO BRING THE CONVERSATION BACK TO HER.

I'd set it for 30 seconds, and not a second longer.

Any INTP that follows rules when dating isn't much of an INTP.

Just wing it. It's a strength for perceivers not a weakness.

What the devil...(?!)

He mentioned bringing up QM in conversations, so I took a stab at QM pick up lines

"Hey baby, wanna see my dirac delta function?"

and on we go....

"I'll show YOU a population inversion!"
"planck's constant is really really REALLY small. Kinda like my social confidence actually. well, actually THAT is more like the modified planck's constant, that extra factor of 1 over 2 Pi makes a big difference!"
"What do I think of the Higgs boson? No you go first, hee hee, no you go first, hee hee, no you go first."
"Hey baby, wanna make some dark matter?" [not really QM I don't think]
"I know, I'll all about Schwinger-Dyson-Freeman-Tomonaga!"
"No no no, the proper pick up line is 'you remind of SU(3) x SU(2)' not 'you you remind me of SU(2) x SU(2), thats way too simple!"

and who can possibly forget
"renormalization is basically like saying infinity minus infinity equals zero, which is how attractive I think you are until I start drinking! Woo hoo for beer goggles baby!"

"Come over here and let me probe your Hamiltonian!"

"Your interesting social banter is more theoretically nuanced than an eigenfunction expansion solution for a standard example approximating a physical problem of interest." [Really more E&M than QM I think]
"You know, the infinite square well is like one of maybe 3 QM problems that is actually exactly solvable! And it doesn't even exist in the real world, but is often used as an approximation for physical problems of interest"

I'm not sure if you are trying to mock INTP's, are try to bring another type down to your level so you don't have to feel so alone. :O

Hey now. As noted in my first post on this topic, I took 4 years of QM in college and grad school. Show me any of these jokes that isn't QM related and explain how it isn't QM and I'll show you how it is.

well, some of them started with QM and then veered off from their, but they all had QM in them

1) tensor products are used to couple spin to the solutions of Schrodingers equation to form the overall wave function
2) standard QM problem, Harmonic oscillator if i recall correctly, non-algebraic solution
3) QM involves sum's over states
4) few problems are exactly solvable. "probing hamiltonians" is technical phrasing as I recall. perturbation theory come sin two major classes: time-dependant and time-independant
5) sakurai is the author of a famous advanced level QM text. griffiths of an intro QM text
6) quarks are confined. strange and charm are 2 of the 6 types of quarks [up, down, top bottom strange charm]
7)stern-gerlach was the defining experiment that showed spin
8) Erwin Schrodinger came up with the schrodinger wave equation and was quite the ladies man
9) dirac delta functions show up a lot in intermediate and advanced physics
10) population inversion refers to energy levels and relates to lasers
11) plancks constant is arguably THE REASON QM exists. QM-> classical physics. modified plancks constant h-bar=h/(2*Pi)
12) Higgs boson is an expected particle but yet to be discovered/found
13) dark matter is form astrophysics. missing mass in the universe
14) these 4 were the founders of quantum-electrodynamics, casimir effect anyone?
15) particle physics. particles described via abstract algebra groups, particularly SU(_) groups, also U(_) and O(_) and maybe SO(_)
16) renomarlization is often described as infinity-infinity=0 more correctly, limits of integrals extend to a cutoff value instead of to infinity
17) see 4
18) eigenfunction expansions, a la electromagnetism, infinite square well in QM
19 ) ISW is often the FIRST QM example shown to physics majors, and IS one of the handful of exactly solvable QM problems/potentials

And they say WE're the stereotypical nerds, right!?

I don't normally say things like this though. And definitely not in general social situations! But yes, motivate an INFP and we can deliver when we get our heart into it. Plus, I just thought it was funny and thought other people, say INTP's and/or those with some familiarity of QM might find it funny too.

Ok, I'll stop now.

Carry on...
