    1. I don't know what a tautology is except that all the pretentious fucks in my Philosophy classes used to pull it out of their ass when they couldn't answer a question.

    2. Some things are just more special than others. If things are different than they can be measured against one another with the result being evaluation. But, yes, we should try to enjoy each day. Of course.

    1. Don't worry, I'm a pretentious fuck (comes with the territory), but I absolutely hate philosophy - evolutionary theory is way more effective in determining the rationale behind human behavior. A tautology is simply using a logical formula to restate the premise. Ayn Rand thought a tautology (A=A) was a reason to build an entire political philosophy. Take that for what you will.

    2. Which leads to part two - the usefulness of quantifying subjective qualities. What one person may consider a "special" day may be "Tuesday" to someone else. A professional golfer may live a life of nothing but special days in my estimation, but still find it drab and mundane. And then there's the whole business about normative statements in the first place.

I like holidays, too, but mostly for the novelty of them - they just don't happen that often. Likewise, I get annoyed when the novelty wears off, and they become much too entrenched in tradition. This gets worse as I age, and the perception of time accelerates.

It's kinda cute when you guys make out like that... awwww...

holidays suck becuase the soul of said respective holidays got eaten by unicorns. Big walmart sized commercialized Fe crack smoking unicorns. buy, buy, buy, spend, spend, spend.

Instead of walking outside and holding your kids hand and feeling the snow of your face, or having the few, but precious gifts, it is just want, want, want.

    I hate christmas.

How can I package this and have some 12 year old make it in China? I think a lot of people would like to buy it.

christmas card. put one of those fake plastic little snowglobe covers on the front and fill it with nonbiodegradale plastic shit.

    dump some glitter on it.

MOST IMPORTANT-attach a piece of shit plastic toy that plays a stupid christmas song. The shelf it at eye level of a four old.

    Even better, attach some candy.

    we'll make millions

I don't understand why people keep saying that they hate the holidays because of commercialism and hype. Two reasons:

    1. I suspect many of these people would hate them for the real meaning, if that were the dominant way to celebrate.

    2. Why should the way anyone else chooses to observe a day affect the way you do it? It's like hating a cereal you'd otherwise find delicious because most people use it as a packing material instead of eating it. Does that make you enjoy eating it any less?

I shall drown you in my Fi. All of you in waves and waves of runny gooey Fi which I have in floodlike abundance. We shall all swim away in waves of feeling.

Actually the 12 year old needs to be on the streets where they can make more money. The 8 year olds should suffice.

It doesnt sound like you have one of "those" family members. They would destroy it for you as well perhaps.

I hear you! I try to keep my expectations low and almost every time a holiday is approaching I constantly remind myself that other people don't naturally consider it as big of a deal as I do. Dang them! Ruining our fun! :steam:
