Yes. What you may think is wickedly funny and brilliantly executed insight may not be what's translated to the other person.

Even if your only job was delivery newspapers, you should be able to extract parts of it that apply to programming or finance.

I suck at job interviews and really have to rehearse before I do them. But once I do get my part down, I got it.

The only thing I can imagine not wanting to talk about is being a gay porn star or president of some nationalist racist organization.

I've gotten every job I've ever wanted. The ones I didn't get I realized later I didn't really want. I'm sure this came through.

My one talent seems to be this ability to generate ideas. Not to implement them, but to come up with them. It seems easy to me, but to others it seems not so easy. A lot of this is because I read a lot and make associations between different things. Each node of information makes the network effects more powerful.

if not you should consider consulting of some sort. Sjs love consultants and the best ones I have seen are all entps. You get to step in and tell them what to do and they love to follow a knowledgable expert.
Yes, this is what I do in my own business. It is nice not to be burdened with the boring part of actually implementing the ideas. Plus, I love to share what I know and educate.

Same here. Fake it till you make it! Yes. I am confident that I can figure anything out, so I have no trouble bullshitting when I don't really know the score. Also, interviews are like dates. You're not there to prove what you know, only to sell yourself and to make everyone like you. I saw a study once where they showed that people would rather work with an incompetent person they like than a competent person they don't like. I abuse the shit out of this. Being liked can get you through almost anything.

At the end, they'll ask if you have any questions. Make sure you have some. The Q&A should last no more than 5-7 mins on your end. Briefly hit the following topics:
-research the company and ask relevant questions. Questions should include the overall industry - don't go in there acting like you know how the biz works - be humble. Ask questions about the company's atmosphere and ask very specific questions about the team that you'll be working with (how many people, how long they have been there...) Make sure you find out what the team's goals are.
-ask the interviewer how long he's been with the company and if he started his career there.
-ask what they are looking for in a teammate, and what your responsibilities will be, if he hasn't told you already
-and by all means, take notes (even if you are just scribbling) it makes the person feel that you are paying attention.
Great advice. All this shows you're interested.

Right, like I said, interviews are first dates. Kinda hate the gangbang interviews that seem to be prevalent in the tech industry, though.

Yea, you basically have to go through the same process to be experienced in it. Jenocyde pretty much hitws the key points. But...the more you failed, the more you will learn how to suceed. Thats what life is.

That's funny, I actually enjoy those the most. Keeps me on my toes and gets them all out of the way at once - very time efficient. I shine in group settings and feel awkward one on one. hmmm...
