    Not just artists.

If you post your personal pics online and if for some reason you can't be found, the corporatocracy can claim your photo and make money from your image, and there won't be much you can do about it after the fact.

I'm concerned about the social ramifications of an artless world. If this passes, I refuse to give money to anyone. I'd rather keep my work to myself, except for those pieces that will naturally become an act of protest.

Please, if you haven't already, click on the link in the first post and write your representatives. This bill was already hotlined through the senate (last Friday night...you know...instead of working on the $700 billion bailout!)

Why in NF Idyllic? It's of general interest; I hadn't read it yet simply because it said "NFs..."

Good point, maybe a nice mod could take out the "NFs" part and put it in the arts section.

The date stamp from the postal service is meant to mark the day the work became your total property.

It's still very sketchy at best.
Well, the thing is, even if they stole your work and put it in a CocaCola-commercial, the law is still on your side (in most cases). Like, for example, if you have posted the piece online, there usually is a date included. A date that you cannot alter, so you could prove you made the piece before the commercial was designed. If this new law goes through, it wont be on your side.

Oh please, I seriously doubt such a ridiculous bill would be passed.

^Stupider laws have been passed (for ex., I think it's illegal for a woman to hike up her panty-hose in Texas), so I wouldn't ignore it.
