They spread rose peddles about, light some candles, listen to Seal, and just let the tears out.

Ditto on music. I pretend that I'm a pancake on my bed. With music on, 1 hour gazing at the ceiling and, flip, another with my face in the pillow.

  • coffee and cookies in bed. With a book
  • soda and greasy food in front of the TV
  • evening walk with the hubby
  • puttering around the house/yard with my headphones on (probably listening to a book)

doing absolutley nothing. My down time is spent having no plans, if I feel like doing something I will, otherwise I just enjoy my thoughts and ignore the rest of the world. This is the one time where I don't have to be anywhere and I don't have to anything by a certain time. So why would I plan my down time? rest of my life is already planned.

- Exercise, especially running, helps me to relax like nothing else.
- Taking long, interesting walks.
- Reading on a beach or in a park is ideal, especially after a long walk...
- Going for a long drive somewhere while listening to music.

I also like spending downtime with another person I'm close to. Just doing whatever.

i like to get lost in a game of Diablo 2
or study and eat ice cream or
lay in bed, and listen to music with my eyes shut or
daydream with the tv on.

A good book...
or if I don't feel like that, a long walk...
or if I don't feel like that, a favorite movie...
or if I don't feel like that, scribbling notes on my latest writing project...
or if I don't feel like that, some comfort food...
or if I don't feel like that, a visit with friends...
or if I don't feel like that, a trip to Starbucks...
or if I don't feel like that, some favorite music...
or if I don't feel like THAT, CHOCOLATE!!!

I don't think I can...not that I don't try. I work hard at relaxing yet never seem to find that magic off button.

Not usually. I'm the world's worst multi-tasker when it comes to anything that requires more attention than eating. I wish I could, though.

Oh, and I have another thing to add: taking a nice long bath, with a book of course.

On my downtime, I prefer seclusion:

Photography/Art/Design
:
I love taking photographs of anything random (kinda like David Carson) or anything scenic, sketching, watercolor, digital design.. to my favorite music of course.

Bookstore:
Print out coupons and run to the bookstore to browse my fav. sections. Afterwards, I like to go home/snuggle in bed to my new book.

Exercise:
Long walks/jogs at the beach (sometimes with Beagle). Most times I hit the gym.

Cooking:
Stress release. I like to cook, not bake (baking frustrates me, not unless it's Sara Lee lol).

Other:
Nice long baths/candle-light, watch my favorite DVDs, play video games, bug the Beagle..

Do NFs need more/less down time than other types?

Who knows? If I were to be completly objective I'd say SJs or SPs need the most because they spend SO much time doing SOMETHING. My mom just cannot sit down and relax. She claims she doesn't need it but sometimes I wonder..

Other than that, I'd say the need for down time/relaxation is an Introverts trait.

When I need some downtime, I usually...

Exercise! Take a walk or bike ride. Or take my kayak out for some paddling! ;)

Read!

Cook...

Eat and Drink! Some chocolate or ice cream, with a cup of tea, a glass of wine, a beer, or some coffee! :)

I engaged in all these activities this weekend actually--except cooking! And I'm feeling recharged and recentered now to start my week tomorow! :)
