What I find more interesting than the amount of sleep people get, is the timing of their natural clocks. I've always had far more energy in the late afternoon well into the night. My bedtime tends to be at about 2am, wakeup anywhere between 8am-10am. Been that way since a little before high school, except I'd just have to be up at 6ish, which was terrible, haha.
Might have a bit to do with something called "delayed sleep phase type.
When things are stressful, I tend to stay up even later, which can throw me into a more unbalanced rhythm compared to normal folks. 6am becomes bedtime, it's a mess.
Having a 'sleep hygiene
' routine, valerian tea
, & installing
the program, f.lux,
into my computer (to control the lighting) have greatly lessened this occurrence. On average, I don't get to bed much later than 3am on my "late
-late nights," these days.
I doubt this stuff has much to do with type at all, as a host of factors come into play regarding our biorhythms. Diet, stress management, endocrine function, metabolism, medications, heredity.. the list goes on. But it's still fun to explore/compare notes, I'll grant that.
On that note,
