Hey guys, just curious about the differences and similarities between INFP's and ENFP's. I'd love if you guys would weigh in. Feel free to skip as many questions as you want, or ask yourself a more interesting question. I suspect answering all of my questions would be extremely time-consuming.

I'm starting with the two types I'm most familiar with, and we'll see how it goes from there. I eventually want to do an ISTJ vs. INTJ questionnaire as well. I really like comparing and contrasting different types.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

14. Do you mind being alone?

1) I type as INFP. I am Male. Aged: 26 (I'm a fucking dinosaur).

2) I am ever sceptical of this "most introverted extrovert" rhetoric. I think its either a) a fundamental misunderstanding on what introversion is or b) they are just as extroverted as others but their extroversion focuses more on patterns and objects rather than it does on people and this confuses them. As for me, I have a good facility of Ne and in situations of discussion I can utilise it in presumably the manner an ENFP can use it.

3) See above. It usually operates at half strength - allowing me to reflect and think about ideas or concepts which jump from one subject to another and one direction to another. In social situations I am comfortable with it takes on a life of its own.

4) I would not know how others describe me. I do not ask them. I would assume it would be commentary about my outer appearance which aren't applicable to my personality at large. I would describe myself in many different ways. Some positive and some negative.

5) Historically it has been shyness and/or nervousness. Now it rests on whether I have the knowledge and/or confidence to promptly answer.

6) Many ways. I have a complex relationship with it. There is a rawness to it which can cause overreaction when I am under stress. When angry I become like the Incredible Hulk. Normally it operates like a magma river deep inside my inner world and is probably the cause behind hyper-criticism of the self and negative and/or cynical opinions of others.

7) I did well in school academically. I can't say the same thing in terms of being social. I was an outcast and whenever the library or computer room was closed I was forced to wander around in a school which didn't grant you many places for solitude and contemplation. At school I daydreamed my years away yet somehow still passed tests. I was a dumbass some day and the smartest kid in the class on others. My joint strength and weaknesses was inconsistency. I could rise to the challenge when I wanted to but at critical times I was apathetic. Other than that I have always enjoyed good spelling (though poor grammar) and a good writing ability which allowed me to cruise through my English classes (atypical of my type.)

8) Historically I have. I have a Livejournal account which is now almost ten years old yet there are only a handful of entries. It is a time capsule with a limited ability to fuel self-reflection. I also keep a vacation journal which started as a one-off several years back but has now become routine. In them I talk about many things: my life, myself, my world, my past and my future.

9) My feelings are usually hidden and are easy to keep that way. I have no desire to share and others have no desire to know. The only feelings and emotions I usually express are frustration/anger and amusement.

10) I have no favourite type. One of the reasons I do not pursue relationships is because I see every path leading solely to regret. I like and dislike (despite my pleasurable typist snipes) on an individual basis but many people I like I have no desire to socialise with beyond the level it is necessary.

11) I do not have sex. I don't really want to and even if I did I would be unlikely to find a potential candidate outside of a brothel.

12) Usually friendships for me are products of circumstance. Many "friendships" of mine are long-term acquaintances with work colleagues. When you must co-operate and converse with someone for many hours a week bonding and bridge building is necessary. Nobody approaches me outside of work and likewise I do not approach others.

13) My colleagues have no desire for romance so my love life does not exist.

14) Solitude? Yes. Loneliness? No. It depends on my mood but most times I enjoy it. The world outside the self is transient and slips through your fingers. The inner world of the self however will be with you as an integral part wherever you go and whatever you do until the day you die.

I'm starting with the two types I'm most familiar with, and we'll see how it goes from there. I eventually want to do an ISTJ vs. INTJ questionnaire as well. I really like comparing and contrasting different types.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
ENFP, 7w6, female, 27 years old

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
Yeah, I definitely need time to myself. I kind of take it on my own though, even if I'm around people. I can just kinda zone out and go into my head and that's solid alone time for me lol.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
Rants and a fire inside. It drives and directs me.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
Others: happy, friendly, eccentric
Me: interested, scattered, dreamy

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?
Ehh, don't love it, but I do my best. Really depends on what I'm being expected to do.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
hm, trying to be overly meticulous. getting really critical and preoccupied with imperfections.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
I did well in school. Good grades, wanted to take challenging classes and learn. Never was a very diligent studier though. Strong at English, some sciences (biology, geology, psychology). Weaker in math and history (dates and names were tough for me).

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
I dabble, but I've never been able to stick to it for very long. It can be quite enjoyable and helpful for me when I do though.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?
I don't usually hide my feelings, I have a harder time being in touch with them myself, so I can be a little "flatter" for that reason sometimes.
When I am aware of my emotions, I try very hard to express them articulately in order to deal with them.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?
I dunno. I tend to have a lot of ENFJ, INTJ, INFJ, INFP connections, but I generally like people of all types.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?
I think sex takes you to a very intimate place with yourself and your partner. I think it's healthy to be able to go there and share love with physical expression and in an honest and comfortable way. Awkward sex life is an indicator of deeper problems in my experience.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?
Mutual interest or shared values. I do tend to initiate friendships, but am open to being on the receiving end as well.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
Same answer.

14. Do you mind being alone?
Short answer: yes. I really need to be sometimes though.

Ohh, yay, a questionnaire! I haven't done one in quite a while. Thanks, Forever_Jung! :)

1. Type/Gender/Age

ENFP 6w7 soc/sx, female, 25.

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Yes, I definitely relate. I would call myself at least socially ambiverted if not introverted. I am the "supine" type that desires interaction but would prefer someone else to initiate it.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

Fi is my inner flame and my guiding light. When everything outside is getting too much, I try to feel into my heart-center and find the wisdom there. It manifests in strong values, an endless quest for meaning, and deep compassion and empathy.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Others have described me as kind, quiet, artistic, intelligent, emotional, defensive, thinking too much, and overly sensitive. Some friend/coworkers at my job have taken to calling me "mom" lately, lol, because I tend to try to take care of others. I would describe myself as curious, warm, idealistic, analytical, protective, aesthetic, and hypersensitive. I am good at making people feel genuinely cared for and empowered. I struggle to self-direct, and to control my emotions.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

It makes me uncomfortable. I don't think I usually do horribly but I much prefer to have preparation time.

Sometimes I get lucky and think of something witty to say. :D

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

I think, especially when I am tired or feeling down, I tend to seek comfort and familiarity. I also get the standard ENxP stress-induced hypochondria and obsessiveness. On the upside, I have a deep appreciation for internal experience of pleasing sensation, if I have the willpower to keep aware of it. In a strange NeSi way, it pleases me to be a part of repeating patterns.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

Generally very well, minus a bump or two along the way. I enjoy learning, and I enjoy pleasing my parents and teachers. My strengths are in endless curiosity, good transitioning between theory and application, and good ability to conceptualize. My weaknesses are in grasping bottom-up information (starting with details and building towards larger concepts), procrastination, and perfectionism. Perfectionism has really been my Achilles heel.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

I don't very regularly. When I do, I tend to focus on romantic relationships, designing, and future planning, and mostly whatever the "big project" in my life at the moment is. I love dreaming about what I hope will be. I tend to doodle my ideas a lot, as well.

I also used to write little love stories.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

I naturally tend to show my feelings and it requires a lot of effort for me to hide them. The closer I am to someone, the more I tend to show feelings around them. I hide them most at work and in public.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I seem to get along very well with FJs in general.

Clashing seems to be more about attitudes than types, but it seems to happen with IxxP 4s and 5s more than any other group. I think it's the contrast with the E and 6, the external-internal thing.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

It is! I feel lucky to have safe, regular, and very satisfying sex with the man I love. As for sex in general, I'm going into a healthcare career and I intend to encourage focus on sex education and safe sex practices.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

Usually geographical convenience, I think, overlapping with complementary personalities. "Clicking". Shared interests and values make for closer friends. I tend to push drawing closer but am shy and hesitant about it at the same time. I don't like making others feel pressured or exposed.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

I really tend to be drawn to people who have strong values and intellect and project them into their environments, but who also have a bit of a "shell" guarding their internal emotions. Mutual interests are important to me in a relationship, but mutual values are absolutely paramount. I'm very, very intentional about my romantic relationships. As for behavior - I definitely initiate intimacy. It was an interesting experience to be pursued by my current boyfriend when we were dating because I'm usually the pursuer, though I try to be subtle and gentle about it. Ever since we decided to make our relationship formal, I am back to my usual role. That is fine with me. It has its frustrations but it is my more natural state.

14. Do you mind being alone?

It's really nice for short periods of time, but I don't like to be alone very often or for very long. I'm on Fall Break today and spending some very lovely alone time parked on my couch.

:saturned:

I was thinking about the INFP/ENFP difference... for one, ENFPs seem to spend a lot more mental energy invested in the immediate external world. I think INFPs do a lot of thinking related to the external world - extrapolating values, etc. - but not necessarily very direct 1-to-1 with it. ENFPs tend to have a more dynamic, moment-to-moment interaction with the external, while INFPs seem to be like bastions from the fray, with a slower exchange pattern which allows them to refine and deepen their personal selves more unaffected by the throes of the external. ENFPs also seem to use their F to connect with everything else, while for INFPs F is a purpose in and unto itself, and can be engaged without greater perspective, though the greater perspective augments it. For an ENFP, I think F has to be anchored in the greater scheme for it to feel worthwhile. I assume N works for both in the exact opposite ways.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
ENFP 7w?<1w9<3w4 Sx/Sp
male, 22

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
yup. I'm pretty reclusive most of the time to be honest. I prefer interaction in small groups, have limited energy and need lots of time alone to keep my sanity

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
it gives me strong conviction and backbone. I will fight tooth and nail for my beliefs and anyone who gets in the way is gonna get demolished (fuck all these butterfly chasing descriptions of ENFPs all over the internet. we will rip your shit up if you step on our values)

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
others: uppity, charismatic, intense, friendly, mysterious, opinionated,
myself: convicted, heroic, dramatic, ambitious, dignified, arrogant, lazy,

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?
I tell them "I wasn't given time to prepare, so tough luck. if you want me to do something for you, I must be notified well in advance"
not that I mind this though, the reaction it elicits amuses me (don't blame me. YOU caused your own butthurt by not notifying me in advance)

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
playing the same video games over and over, being anal about my tea preparation

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
GPA: 3.2 (should be a bit higher after this semester)
strengths: discussion oriented courses, grasping concepts quickly, test taking, history
weaknesses: rote memorization, technical classes, super precise classes (like chemistry labs)

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
no

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others?
usually

When do you usually hide your feelings?
when I feel scared, vulnerable or emotionally distraught

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?
best: other FPs, INTJs
worst: all Fe/Ti users (with the exception of the occasional ENTP, ISFJ or ISTP I end up liking)

11. How do you feel about sex?
I love it, though foreplay and cuddling are the best part. I like gentle, intimate sex that others would describe as beautiful
on the kinkier side, I'm into watching my partner shower (with him pretending I'm not there) and giving oral while he's asleep

Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?
hell yeah

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?
mutual interests and shared values, but mostly it just kinda clicks. I initiate about 50% of the time

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
criteria includes
1) does he give me a boner (I'm pretty picky about looks, but I'll keep it simple and spare you the list)?
2) does he live close by?
3) do we have chemistry?
4) can he hold a conversation?

if yes to all these....
5) are there any logistical issues (relationship status, religious issues, etc) that would keep us apart
if not, BOOM! I just found a potential partner

14. Do you mind being alone?
I like to have a balance. too much time alone and I get bored; too much time with others and I get drained

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
ENFP, female, 20

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
I was typed as INFP before. I know my N is really strong and this is the reason why I typed as ENFP, but to be honest I continue to doubt my I/E.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
I am very confident about my beliefs, ideas and opinions. I need to stay true to who I am and to what I want in my life to feel in harmony with myself. I am also very sensitive and sometimes can't accept critics.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
Others: Talkative, fun loving, sociable, easy going, smart, knowledgeable, arstistic, aesthetic, original, careless, selfish, egocentric, non emotional, lazy
Me: Shy, moody, melancholic, artistic, aesthetic, original, sensitive, egocentric, , indecisive, lazy, smart

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

Sometimes I tend to be a little show off and melodramatic, I try to make myself look smarter and show my abilities to others, but I am also shy and reserved.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
I think it makes me smart, knowledgeable and quick to learn new theories. But also critical, sarcastic and a bit dry.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
I've always knew how to use language to make me sound smarter, or to predent I know more about the topic, than I really do. This was pretty great tool, that helped me a lot. I was good at languages.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
I still have a journal, but I don't write so often anymore. I don't write about events, but about my feelings, or causes with I deal inside. I do have a tumblr and it's mostly about my feelings and music. http://sophiadeep.tumblr.com/

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

Yes and I do it all the time. I do it to the point, that when I decided I want to stop I just can't. I learned to pretend being happy and fun a lot, and now I don't now what I pretend anymore.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?
SFP types are my best friends. I dislike SJs and ENxJs.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

Sure it is :)
12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

I make friends based on shared hobbies. I am too shy to initiate the friendship, so I always wait for the other person to make the first step.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

Hobbies, opinions, values... I would never make the first step! Like really never ever in my life.
14. Do you mind being alone?
Yes I dsilike it. Much rather I spend time with my friends.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
INFP, Female, 30

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
In a way, but I think this has more to do with being a Social dom. To people that don't know me well, I can seem ENFP-like in certain circumstances, especially after a few drinks. ;) I'm sure I seem humourless on the forum but IRL it can be difficult to get me to be serious. I'm rather shy and it can manifest in strange ways: I'm mostly extremely socially withdrawn but on occasion I can seem very outgoing (in an awkward, off-beat way). Ultimately I'm too lost in my own head and anti-social to be a extrovert.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
Loopyness and quirk. My humour. Holistic thinking. Adaptability. Always considering the implications. Always connecting situations/ideas/phrases to something else. When it's at it's best it can be like mental fireworks.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
I guess people find me off-beat and my demeanour to be shifting and irregular; I don't seem to have a consistent pace. I suppose that makes me difficult to work out and keep track of. People see me as cerebral, silly and sarcastic. I suppose most people find me agreeable enough; I'm neither loved or hated.

I would say I'm sensitive, dreamy and introspective. A deep thinker and feeler. I'm shy and awkward, even if I don't always seem like I am. In many ways I'm better with kids than adults. I tend follow where my mind wanders to, even if it's away from the immediate social setting. People and situations only have my attention if the ideas being shared grab me or challenge me enough, and most things don't really do that for me (although politeness often demands my attention).

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?
Depends. If it's something I find rather daunting or unpleasant, I will be rather annoyed and difficult about it - I need to mental work up to those things. If it's a choice I have to make relating to minor personal preference, I can be quite indecisive. In other ways I can be spontaneous, or at least go with the flow without much worry.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
It's the little drill sergeant in my head that tells me off all the time for being lazy or disorganised, or for avoiding doing something I should. It brings my individual evaluations and judgements back to universality. It also brings clarity and allows me to cut through things that I make overly complex in my head - to find a clear path in the confusion. It helps out on those rare occasions when I want to assert myself. ;)

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
I was above average but I was a bit of a underachiever - I made an effort but I never really lived up to my potential (I think now that I actually may have a learning disability). I was good at pretty much every subject and could pick up anything easily. I had a passion for English and the Arts but I got more consistently high marks in Maths and Science. I had trouble with aspects of some subjects or with certain teachers at various times when I didn't really get the Ne explanation with things; despite comprehending the material, it was like feeling about in the dark for me. I'm not good at essay writing in exams, as it forces you to put ideas together in a linear fashion which is something I seriously struggle with (probably partly because of the LD too - I have difficulty with writing by hand).

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
I never have the patience to do proper journals or blogs. I sometimes write out thoughts I have about a particular situation or idea - it's generally a bit soapbox-y. Mostly it's just things that grab me: something funny I found or some song that I'm obsessed about.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?
I don't usually hide what I call shallow feelings: simple, superficial, temporary emotions I feel immediately in the moment. I will conceal things like annoyance at times, so that I don't inflict my bad mood on others. The deep, complex, intense, enduring feelings I almost always keep to myself, however I might occasionally give people a little taste of them.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?
I get along with all types, although some have generated more positive or negative experience than others. ESTPs haven't been so kind to me in the past (a lot of bullying). They seemed to hone in on the fact I'm sensitive and different, and punished me for it. I have the most love for the ENFx - I'm attracted to their warmth, charisma and enthusiasm, and how they balance an ability to connect with others with typically less than popular traits (eg. nerdiness, curiosity, earnestness, depth of feeling, introspection, being outside the box etc).

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?
Not having any right now. ;)

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?
It's something that just happens. I certainly don't do much initiating. The good friends I've had usually share a mindset: eg. similar humour or way of seeing the world. When I travelled overseas I made friends that I had little in common with, because it was more about shared experience.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
I'm gonna be evasive and not answer this.

14. Do you mind being alone?
No. I enjoy it more than nearly any other person I know. I can stare at a wall for hours and just be entertained by my own thoughts. If I do it too much it can start to take its toll. I need people to occasionally lift my head up and make me connect with the world again.

Thanks for the responses guys! I didn't really think it through how hard it would be to respond to these properly, but I'll figure it out soon enough. By the way, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!) INFP, female, thirtysomething

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse. I am very introverted, so no.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself? It helps me consider all the possibilities/options. It tends to get me excited. I kind of 'geek out' with it. When working best it helps me gain perspective, see all sides and take other people's motivations/ pov into consideration. It brings cool metaphors into my head that help me explain my personal experience/deepest feelings.

4. How would others describe you? Most people, probably quiet, smart, creative. How would you describe yourself? Internally intense and emotional, externally reserved. Unless I'm with the right person. Then I'm talkative, excited, and expressive.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot? Deer in headlights.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself? I start making lists, try to micromanage my time. Beat myself up for not being more organized. I completely suck at time management, but if I have a deadline I'm never late.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student? In high school I was an Honors student. Got scholarships and all that, but I was also the Honors student with the lowest cumulative GPA. I was abysmal at math once I entered high school, science hit or miss. All I cared about, really, was the humanities and foreign languages. I did really well in college in the classes that I was interested in, but I've never really cared about school. I just like to learn and I typically teach myself.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free. I used to journal like crazy, less so now. I usually focus on my feelings. In a way it can feel counterproductive to journal, so I write poetry or do visual art more instead. That way I'm truly getting it out and transforming it into something vs just keeping it to myself.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings? Hmm, yes and no. I might not come out and say them, but I have an expressive face. I usually hide my feelings because I feel too exposed and vulnerable when I let them out. And they are so powerful. Often they are misinterpreted by others and too much for them. But sometimes it's impossible to contain them or it feels like it's important to express my feelings and they all come out.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst? For me it's more of an instinct thing than a mbti thing.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life? Sometimes it's the most problematic, worst thing, sometimes it's the most amazing thing. Depends. Lately it's been for the most part pretty spectacular.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen? It's rare for me to make a friend, but it's typically more of a kindred spirit/soul mate feeling. It usually just happens. I really don't need more than one good friend, at the most two or three.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships. Romantic relationships I'm more drawn for some inexplicable reason. Lots of moth to flame with me getting hurt. I've been married for a pretty long time though so less of an issue these days.

14. Do you mind being alone? I love being alone unless I'm truly alone, as in no soul mate/ kindred spirit. Then life is hell. But as far as spending long periods of time alone, my God I need it. I'm usually alone around 4-8 hours a day.

ENFP / female / 41

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Definitely go into introversion mode when I've been emotionally hurt, shocked or have some serious things challenging my values. I also require introversion time to recharge.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

I think I covered it in 2.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

bubbly, bold, crazy, funny, passionate, good mother. I would describe same.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

I pretty much hate it and often say the wrong thing. uggh. But getting better as I age- like a fine wine. lol

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

Hardly ever. I think only when I am feeling LOSS I will reflect on memories and moments and try to find meaning in them.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

Straight As till I hit puberty then I couldn't rein in my socialability and grades dipped. But writing and english were my top subjects. As well as foreign language. And I did well in all subjects overall.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

Yep! family topics and also political

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

Not really. But from strangers that I don't trust- I hide my feelings. Or try to anyway.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I click and clash with NTs. It's love/hate.
I get along really well with ISFJ/ESFJ/ENFJ/ESFP

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

It's a must have. I try to accept the ups and downs of passion in a physical relationship. I will always desire top-of-the-line passion in my sex life and I try to teach myself that this is unrealistic and to enjoy sex in all different modes. Thru all the ups and down- pardon the pun. ;)

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

As far as NEW freindships that I develop are almost always from people who share my passions in politics, religion and world view.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

n/a

14. Do you mind being alone?

When young yes I did. Now- I LOVE and crave it and need it.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

ENFP 7w6 or 2w3 (leaning towards 7w6) so/sx, Male, 18.

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Yes. Compared to most of my friends I'm probably the least outgoing. But I'm still fairly socially extroverted enough for people to easily type me as an extrovert; most of my friends are just more extroverted than I am.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

In positive ways - staying true to my values regardless of outside influence, constantly asking myself what feels best, having confidence in my self-awareness and who I am as a person.
In negative ways - feelings of being an outcast, not as emotionally expressive, being directed away from things that may be necessary for my advancement (school work, etc), lack of awareness of how other people may be feeling causing "inappropriate" actions.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Others - bubbly, energetic, extroverted, happy, fragile, gentle, caring, oblivious, absent-minded, clumsy, lazy
Me - bubbly, energetic, withdrawn, guarded, emotional, caring, soothing, oblivious, lazy

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

I'm very casual and try to make others laugh with my spontaneity. I can't speak formally unless I rehearse over and over what I want to say properly.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

Being too critical and concentrated on small details I would usually ignore, retreating to things familiar, and ignoring possible positives because of small negatives.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

I'm easily distracted and don't put in effort until I'm genuinely intrigued by something. I have no motivation to even care about my grades. I can be a strong student if I use the potential I actually have and put in the required effort but usually I find that I'd rather the effort be spent on something like hanging out with friends or playing games or watching TV.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

If I do actually post things myself, they're usually about things I'm interested in or passionate/angry about.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

I'm not good at hiding or concealing how I feel, but I usually just become quiet when I'm something other than happy and just watch my friends go about themselves. I usually hide them when I feel like it's not worth making a fuss over.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

Best: ENFJ, ESFJ, ISFJ, ISFP, INTJ, ENTJ
Worst: INFJ, INTP, ESFP, ISTJ

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

Yes!

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

All of the above, or just chatting about life no matter how different we may be. :D It just sort of happens though, but I do find that I put a lot of effort into maintaining the friendship.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

They just sort of happen, but I'm the one who flirts/pursues because I'm too impatient for guys to try playing it cool with me.

14. Do you mind being alone?

I need time alone a lot, but I also get lonely if I spend too much time in isolation.

This is really short but to be fair I should be doing homework. :whistling:

yay these are fun!

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

ENFP / female/ 19

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Yes! I find that I really need a balance...I need my social interaction, preferably with several people every day or I get antsy and bored, but I also need alone time at the end of the day to regroup. Also, i'm tend to be relatively quiet when faced with unfamiliar new groups of people, many people have been surprised that I'm extroverted. I questioned this a lot too until I realized that the reason I didn't like holidays(yes i'm nuts lol) was because school provided much more social interaction, while I was generally limited to small group interaction during the holidays.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

Feeling very strongly about certain pet issues/ values/ principles, sometimes subconsciously. Then when someone violates them....oh I find out alright  It also helps me be less influenced by peer pressure and stand apart from the group in terms of values, which I am grateful for :)

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Others: nice (I used to hate this label because i thought they meant "pushover"), forgiving, helpful, witty, understanding, stubborn, scatterbrained.
Myself: kind, understanding, scatterbrained, optimistic, craves change/improvement, enjoys challenges

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

It depends whether i feel conflicted about the issue or not. There are some things which the answer is immediately obvious to me, or it doesn't really matter so i can just pick one, and i usually seem quite decisive there. But in cases where i am truly conflicted...hate it >.< i'll insist and explain why i should be given more time to think if that's an option, if not, force myself to make a choice and live with it.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

Being sporadically particular about my environment (my things are very messy but when i do tidy them up, boy am i OCD!), remembering a HUGE amount of detail about significant past events.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

Erm....i've done well, except for my second language. I have an easier time than most grasping overall concepts and schemes, but i'm not good at remembering tiny details (unless they're interesting), using the correct phrasing/ answering techniques, those need a lot more practice. Also, there are periods of time where i get complacent and my grades slip (not to the extent of failing though) and then i realize it's time to buck up heh.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

I maintain quite a regular journal on my computer (word documents! not a blog) which i keep very private. I tend to write about happy events which i want to remember, as well as things i feel conflicted about because I feel like writing really helps me to sort out my thoughts/feelings and allows me to avoid becoming too emotional.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

Yes, many people have told me that i had them fooled when i eventually tell them about how i was feeling. I don't like showing negative reactions/ emotion to people generally, because it triggers a vicious cycle (i affect my friends' mood, and then everyone's gloomy. i usually feel better only when i affect others' moods positively, even if it means counseling another sad friend.). Admittedly i find it hard to go to most

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I have quite a variety of close friends (SF, SJ, NF, NT) but i think with Js there tends to be a problem sometimes with feeling judged/ imposed on by them, especially when there's Fe and they're trying to persuade me that something is the right thing to do by social standards.

I like Es and Is equally, but i tend to have more I friends because from my observation Es tend to want to stick to the noisier bunch, especially ES__ people (i'm not close enough to a single ES person to know their type!).

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

It should be when the time comes, i'm abstinent for now (and probably a long time more, waiting for marriage).

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

So far it's mainly- or completely even- been through school. I make friends by working together, or just seeing who clicks with me. I don't tend to actively befriend people though i am friendly and will talk to most given the chance. I prefer making friends through mutual friends rather than in a big group as in orientation activities, in big groups i usually feel unnoticed.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
I actually tend to pursue quite when there's someone i'm interested in. I only have crushes on people who at least enjoy my company though, and I usually try not to make it too obvious that i like them as more than a friend! I have no problem asking people to join me for lunch/events/studying but i usually find a way to make it sound casual and friend-ish :p Ironically though, in my current (and only) relationship my boyfriend was the pursuer!

14. Do you mind being alone?
Not at all for short periods of time, but if i'm alone for too long ( an entire day, no social connection at all?) i become sullen and in a bad mood.

/rant over :)

INFP/M/45, 5w4.

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

My N preference is more extreme than my F preference, but never thought myself extraverted.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

Quick, off the wall responses and humor. Generating lots of possible solutions quickly... seeing cross context connections.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Humorous, warm, thoughtful (I hope), reserved.

Myself: perfectionistic, hard on myself, emotionally oriented (even if I don't show that part all the time).

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

I have mixed feelings about it. Extremely shy and self-conscious, so hate that aspect of it. On the other hand, I do like the "improv" aspects of things, so (unpredictably) rise to the occasion.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

I'd say I've generally had a negative view of Te over the years. Too imprecise, impersonal, etc.

I've grown to see the upside of Je more recently, but still Te is not something I see much of in myself. If I squint I can kind of sort of see it when I buckle down and slop my way through things, but not otherwise so much.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

I was generally a good student, although tended to take things too seriously. Did have to fight against procrastination, but overall was able to do quite well. Triple majored in English, psychology and computer science.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

I do journal, if somewhat inconsistently. I usually focus on what I'm struggling to understand (either externally or internally), and my emotional response to that.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

I think I'm certainly capable of keeping my feelings mostly internal, but not to the point of manufacturing feelings externally. Luckily, people tend to hear what they want to hear, so in some cases I let people run with their own biases until some correction is necessary.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

In real life, there's a great deal of variance. I'd say perhaps ETJs and ETPs are the most challenging, in general, although ESJs also can be challenging as a group.

Still, I think a lot depends on the individual. For example, one of my favorite coworkers ever is ESFJ, and the family member I have the most conflict with is also ESFJ... so often depends on issues outside of MBTI type.

In general, I'd say I'd find NPs, FPs and NFs the easiest to communicate with, although there can be frustrations.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

I'm generally in favor. I have my fair share of hang-ups, but that doesn't get in way of sexy with my partner.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

I'm not great at reaching out, but I do try to keep things going once I have a friendship. I do have the typical INFP things of not being great at initiating.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

Umm... also tend to not be great at looking of such, but have tried to respond to overtures (when reciprocated).

14. Do you mind being alone?

I love having time to myself, although an extended period of time in isolation isn't ideal.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!) INFP, female, 52 and proud of it!

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse. Yes, I do...In my work, I have to be very social (think Holland Codes). It is almost inevitable that when I ask a group of students (during the validation phase of giving the MBTI) what they think I am, Extravert or Introvert, they will respond with "Extravert". My "extraversion" is a stage. My introversion is the true me. I don't draw energy from people...and, as much as I love teaching my classes, at the end of the class I am very tired. I want nothing more than to be able to go to my office and shut the door...even for just five minutes or so. I AM a very strong N but I am quite clear that my preference is Introversion. Part of that is because I have been a certified interpreter for a long time...and I am also 52 years old. I have learned to use the other side of type effectively but my comfort zone is in the introversion.

Kind, caring, intelligent, and nurturing
How would you describe yourself? Intelligent and caring...and I know that all the turmoil in my life doesn't show outwardly (until it has reached the boiling point...and then everyone better watch out!)

5. How do you react to being put on the spot? In negative situations, I withdraw and "hyper-reflect"

6. How does your inferior manifest itself? I become a general, issuing orders right and left...definitely NOT the natural "me"

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student? I was an excellent student in areas such as English and History. Math...HORRIBLE. I do NOT speak math and I wish I did. Sciences were interesting (biology) but my joy was English

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
I have 18 hours post-masters work in English and it will surprise most people I know that I don't do much journal-writing. I love writing and am very good at it...I draw on my counseling background constantly...viewing everything I read and write in that context. I don't really know why I don't journal...but I think it is mostly because I have never taken the time to do it much. And truth be told, I don't HAVE much time to do it. I work way too much for my own good!

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?
I can hide my feelings quite well...especially when I am hurt, embarrassed, or angry. I usually hide my feelings because I want time to reflect on how it has affected me...and so I have the right words to say...and not in a public forum. However, if I am honest, it is mostly because I absolutely DETEST confrontation.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst? I connect with ENFPs and INFPs the best. ISTJs and ESTJs, particularly in a work setting, are exceedingly difficult to work with. I work in a counseling-type setting and they consistently put ISTJs in management positions over us. It is NOT a productive environment.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life? It is a wonderful part of life...but often I realize that I am trying to connect on an emotional level and my partner is just in it for the "feel-good". "Feel-good" is great, don't get me wrong...

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen? I have MANY acquaintances but very, very few friends. I give so much emotionally that it would completely deplete my reservoir of energy to sustain that much expenditure! Most of the time, it just happens because there is that almost immediate sense of kinship.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships. I tend to get drawn into them...and then get hurt because I invest so much emotionally. I am not a demanding person, nor do I expect someone to be there constantly (I need alone time!!!) but I find that I tend to be the one giving and rarely emotionally receiving.

14. Do you mind being alone? No, I relish my alone time because my profession is SO people-intensive.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

INFP / Male / 22

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Have I ever mistaken myself for an ENFP? No. Never.

Last time I took a test that broke down the strength of my functions as an INFP, my Ne scored stronger than my Fi. But I've never even once though I was an extrovert, yet alone an ENFP. If anything based on what I've seen, ENFPs think they're INFPs because they confuse their Fi for Introvertedness.

And if I'm being brutally honest, I think it stems from ENFPs who want to be INFPs because they think it's cool or that INFPs are liked more than ENFPs. I really don't understand how Introversion and Extroversion are so complicated. If you gain energy from being around others, it's Extroversion. If you have to expend energy to be around others, then it's Introversion. It's not rocket science. That should be the easiest possible letter to figure out.

So I don't get that. If you're an ENFP, be an ENFP. Own it, live it, be it. Go out and run for president, play a saxophone on late night TV. Have an affair with an intern. Define marriage. Reform healthcare. And whatever else Bill Clinton did.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

It makes me extremely good at seeing big pictures while also respecting the smaller parts. It's what enables my political beliefs (Minarchist and/or Right-Wing Libertarian) and philosophical beliefs (Individualist).

It also lets me make obscure connections, some of which don't even exist when I explain them to other people. But when I can make them work, they're very creative connections. I'm also a writer, so that helps a lot. It gives me enough control over symbolism that it isn't blatantly obvious, which other writers can have trouble with.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Others: Caring, Creative, Sensitive, "Sport" (from A Wrinkle in Time), Diplomatic
Self: Empathetic, Individualist, Space Cadet

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

Ugh, I hate it. At first I get a terrible case of Deer-In-Headlights Syndrome, just staring at them with my mouth open for probably about ten seconds (feels like so much longer), then I get nervous, starting shaking, fumble with words... it pretty quickly devolves into a windstorm of nerves and confusion and awkwardness for everyone involved. Nobody knows what I'm trying to say, I just keep throwing words and phrases at the problem until it seems like an appropriate amount of space has been filled.

Example: Trying to order food in Subway is basically me confidently saying what type of sandwich I want, what type of bread, how long, what kind of cheese, cringing when I say 'Merican, then staring at them when they ask how I want it toasted.

Today I said "toasted", and they stared back at me, then asked if I wanted only the bread toasted or the whole thing toasted. I said the whole thing, had no clue what they were talking about when they tried to make small talk about how they liked this type of sandwich, then I mistook it for a question and for some reason he showed me the chicken. Then I was already asking for lettuce and tomatoes before he was ready to toast it, at which point he explained to me again how he'd be toasting it (without veggies, which I thought we had already agreed on when he asked if I wanted the "whole thing" toasted, but whatever).

I won't even get into yesterday at the Panda Express, when I brain farted and forgot what an egg roll was called, so I kept saying things with "egg" in front (egg noodles, egg things, egg lettuce) while making a hand gesture to demonstrate that it was oblong...

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

It's almost explicitly used for figuring out motivations for a person's actions. I'm a huge Ayn Rand fan for her way of looking at behavior (particularly kindness towards others). In that way, it pretty much goes into working out problems and finding empathy for otherwise un-sympathetic people.

It also goes towards looking at where people are coming from in their arguments and being able to respect their arguments while disagreeing with them. For example, I can't stand Communism, but I have a deep respect for Lenin because of how devoted he was to what he believed was the answer to the world's problems.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

In high school I had a 2.7 or 2.8 GPA, mostly made Bs and Cs, though I made As in my AP English classes. On my ACTs I made a 27 or 29, my lowest score being Math and my highest scores being the highest possible scores in English and Writing.

Gen Ed classes bored me, and I mostly slept through them. I didn't talk at all, had no interest in them, I usually either doodled, wrote stories, or slept. In my AP classes or classes I enjoyed, I always did well, and usually had too much fun. I talked a lot, joked, contributed heavily to discussions, and really got into the material.

In college, I graduated with a 3.2 or 3.3 GPA, and at least a 3.5 in my major (I'm a member of the International English Honor's Society). I had a lot more trouble with literary analysis (which now I'm decent at) than with rhetorical analysis (which I'm pretty good at), but I focused on creative writing. My minor was basically an interdisciplinary study on the cognitive processes behind symbolic and creative systems (basically, how our brain learns systems like grammar, alphabets, numbers, music notes, etc).

The only classes I ever did poorly in were Math and German, but mostly because I never found a foreign language that interested me, and I've always sucked at Math.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

I used to all the time, but lately I haven't bothered with it. I need to start doing it again soon.

A lot of times it would be just writing down my feelings, particularly about people who bothered me and events that annoyed me. Mostly it was back before I got into actual writing, way back during the Myspace Era. Facebook, mostly I say what I'm thinking and be done with it. Twitter doesn't amuse me at all.

These days when I really want to write something personal, I do a nonfiction piece. So...

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

I used to think I was terrible at it, but now I know I'm very, very good at it. When I had my first relationship, I was terrified of telling my mom I was gay. I was obsessed with it for months, and I was always convinced that she was seeing right through me. Then when I broke down in tears and finally told her how I'd been in a relationship with a guy, that I was terrified of her disowning me, etc, she was completely blindsided. She'd had no idea that any of it was going on or that anything was even bothering me. It was so sudden that she really had no clue how to deal with me going full meltdown right in front of her.

So after that I started realizing that not only am I pretty blank at surface level when it comes to my emotions, but that I have a very, very wicked poker face.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I click best with INFPs. I do decent well with ENTPs. Two of my best professors (who I keep in touch with still) are ENTPs. But by far I'm best with other INFPs. I also do well with ESFJs, especially my mom.

I have a lot of trouble with Js. It's not too bad with xNFJs, but it's there. My best friend is an INFJ, but she's so agreeable that it's a non-issue. Other INFJs I've had some pretty tense discussions with in classes. I'm very bad with immature INTJs, and my grandmother is an ESTJ. I love her, but me and her are on completely different wavelengths, and when we try to communicate (even about how we need to learn to communicate better) things break down pretty fast. We get along because we both believe in loyalty to family members (other than the complete lunatics), and because she's my memaw, but we're very obviously opposites in personality.

So xxTJs, with XNTJs in particular when they're immature. I'm terrible with those, and they very quickly melt through my very deep reserves of patience.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

I'm a virgin still, dating another virgin long distance. Both of us are holding out for marriage (or an equivalent thereof), but we do still mess around together.

I think sex without the relationship to back it up is one of the most unhealthy things you can get involved in, and once you cash in your V Card it only gets tougher to deal with. Like, once you have sex, dealing with it yourself is just never good enough anymore, and sex-seeking becomes an issue that wasn't there before. I have no doubt that sex is that big of a difference, but why start down that road when you don't have that special person to stumble down it together?

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

It just sort of happens. Mostly it's a personality thing. I get along best with agreeable people who are homebodies and don't spend much time out on the town. A large fraction of my friends are on the internet.

I'm shy, so I typically don't initiate. One of my really good friends from school half-jokingly threatened to kill me over critiques I had for one of her stories in our first creative writing class together. Then I drew a smiley face on a Post-It note and we got to know each other better. We're both a bit odd (she's well on the road to being a cat lady), so it works out.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

Two relationships, both over the internet.

The first one just happened, the second was intentional, with me doing the initiating.

14. Do you mind being alone?

"Alone" is a funny word.

Do I mind being away from groups of people or neighbors? No, not even remotely. I hate crowds and get extremely nervous around the average person.

Do I like being independent and away from EVERYBODY? No. I live at home with my family, and have no plans to change that any time soon. We're a close family who relies on each other. I don't mind getting my space for a few hours when they go to the store or to doctors' appointments, but I would never want anything more than that. I don't even like them leaving town for a few days.

I'll help you out:

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
INFP 4w5. I'm 30.

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
I don't think any force on earth could make me see myself as an "extravert", though I keep in mind the possibility that I am cognitively extraverted. My Ne is definitely the best developed part of the sequence.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
I'm basing my answer on me being an INFP; and again, that seems to be the best developed part of my personality. Basically, Ne is my life story. I was just reflecting on that today--it's like I change tracks every 15 seconds, and I forget whatever I was just thinking about. Each thought seems more exciting than the prior one, and I am very mercurial.

When I do things, I'm constantly thinking, Ha! That reminds me of that one time when ________. Or, Hey, this would make a great ________!

The Ne is also developed enough that people seem to think I'm psychic, just because I see the possibilities inherent in a situation and am developed enough to know how this is likely to pan out. Then I tell them what I think will happen. Then it happens.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
I am silent, grim, over-serious, and a downer. I think we all agree (and a major reason I err in favor of being Fi-dom).

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?
I resent it, of course. I'm extremely unlikely to cooperate when people do this to me. However, my improvisational capacities are generally good.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
I'm still struggling to see this. Some others have helped me to see that I sometimes have external standards, which, when I don't live up to them, I get depressed and call myself a loser. I also bitch and moan about everything I hate (though this is so frequent, it hardly constitutes being in "the grip").

However, I'm far more identified with Si-inf, which in my case, really does manifest as hypochondria, overwhelming internal imagery and sensations, getting bound by my past ("I've never done this before; therefore I can't!"), and letting one teeny tiny little detail ruin all my grand schemes. These really do manifest as distinct episodes which are out of character for me.

(And this is what gives me pause about being an INFP).

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
- In high school, I had the "bright kid who doesn't care" syndrome. Skipped classes, turned in homework "sometimes", maintained a C-average only because I aced all exams.
- College, I showed up to every class, did no reading or other work, but still aced exams. I got a very high GPA.

So I guess my strengths are my ability to learn quickly and manipulate the academic system, and my weaknesses are my lack of willingness to work and apathy toward academia in general.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
I keep a blog about my world travels. Usually, I focus solely on my own experiences and I tell zany stories which I think are adventures, but which others find intolerably negative.

If I didn't travel through so many dictatorships, I'd be more inclined to discuss politics, world affairs, and my opinions on everything that's wrong with the world. But I learned long ago never to do that.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?
To those who know me, I am very emotionally honest--if I'm angry, they'll hear about it; if I'm depressed, I'll say, I'm depressed. Unfortunately, I am mercurial and this changes every 5 minutes, so I tend to jerk my family around.

Those who don't know me, though, would probably find me "low drama" as I have no reactions to things I am not personally vested in.

There are also some emotions I don't show, no matter what the circumstance. I don't have much respect for "over emotionalism", which I define as weepiness, sentimentality, cutesy-ness, and similar expressions (it's not the same as being "mercurial" which means you change often, or even being "melodramatic", which is theatrical and manipulative in intent). So, I am loath to show my tears and gushy feelings, to the general public and even to those who are close to me. I don't consider myself to be an "expressive" person for this reason.

I can contain my emotions very well, although sometimes things do well up inside me until I let them out. I just make damn well sure that those aren't the "wimpy" ones.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I don't relegate that to type. My greatest supporter and worst enemy were both 9w1 INFPs.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?
Sex is my Grand Tormentor. It's the way I most feel my deprivation issues as a 4. I want it, I hate it, nobody wants me, I am a loser. My family sees me as a prude, but they are wrong.

No, it's not a positive healthy thing in my life, lol! But, this is not related to me being NFP.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?
I don't seem to make friends.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
Combine 11 and 12 and you've got a clear picture of the situation.

14. Do you mind being alone?
I'm an honest-to-gosh loner, but still, I mind more than you'd expect (and I mean socially). I like having the freedom to do my own thing, but apparently I have an annoying tendency to follow people around when they want to get away from me. (That's only with my own family.)

My Love Language is quality time, though.

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

ENFP 4w5 sp/sx, male, 35

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

I relate, I'm also a 4w5, which is considered the most introverted enneatype.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

Umm, I have a strong belief in the sanctity of the individual. To the degree that I believe it's everybody's right to totally fuck themselves over, if they so choose. And I honor that.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

I don't know how to answer this.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

Hmm, I need a situation. But in general, I react. If it's something that I know how to deal with, I deal, if not, I make something up.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

Strange little mystical 'pings' on my awareness. I sometimes feel that I have Ni, I always wonder if this is my Si manifesting in a peculiar way.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

Terrible. But I had a very bad academic support structure. I was always interested in subjects that I was interested in. I did well on tests, I failed many a class because I didn't do homework.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

I just blog here. It's a bunch of self-serving garbage. Better out than in.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

I don't often think of other people when expressing my feelings, but then again I don't always manifest them. I think that a lot of the times my feelings are irrelevant unless they are instrumental in achievement. Often they are.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

I do well with other NFPs. I get on well with most people. NTs seems to occasionally find me interesting/amusing irl.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

I feel that I don't get enough, I don't feel comfortable with it unless it's packaged with somebody I connect deeply to. As a result, it is a kind of simul-prioritized concern in my life next to partnership, emotional connection.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

I guess I try to hang out in groups, in places, and friendships seem to form. It's a slow, but inevitable process. I have been known to stalk friends.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

Same answer.

14. Do you mind being alone?

I am highly aware of being alone, but I take advantage of it. There are things that I do best alone.

Wow... you're like the older male version of me! :yay: Except for the part about hiding emotions and all (I'm terrible at that!), but...
Can we be friends?

this will be my first real post here...dippin my toes in!

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)
INFP, 4w5, female, 35.

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.
yeah actually i can see that. i have what i suspect are a lot of ENFP friends and all of them say this. and i say the reverse, so it must be true?! though i have an ISFP boyfriend, which throws everything off, because he is more E than i, and said "when i first met you, i didn't know if you could talk." so maybe i am hardly extroverted at all :tongue10: occasionally i can be quite bold though.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?
i think when i get in long drawn out conversations, or when i am trying to "figure someone out."

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?
others- shy, funny, non-judgmental, cranky, moody, reclusive.
myself- moody, misunderstood, mixed up but in a good way, ha.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?
absolutely horribly. stuttering or silence most likely. or saying "umm" a lot. or repeating myself. or all those combined.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?
i've been thinking about this, and i am honestly not sure yet.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?
i did well in the things i was interested or cared about...art, english and french. did not do so well in challenging things/things i didn't have interest in- science, math, PE. history was a mixed bag.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.
off and on. i am really trying to be good about writing a dream journal.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?
yes and no. i hide them at work mostly and with friends. with significant others, i don't bother at all. to me, that's partly what a significant other is for, to see you, warts and all. oh and my parents, it's a mixed bag. sometimes i show my feelings, sometimes i don't.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?
ENFP, ENFJ, INFP, ISFP, INFJ, ISTP (one i know?)=good. ESTJ/ENTJ/ESFJ/ISTJ=bad. INTJ/ISFJ/INTP are probably mixed.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?
i absolutely love it, but i'm a bit picky. but once i pick someone, i open up a lot. i like it to be a mix of love + lust, if that makes any sense. it's for pleasure but also to connect. if me and my boyfriend haven't had sex in awhile we don't get along as well, it's just a fact for us...and then one of us says so and we have to make it happen.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?
i don't even know anymore. usually a more extroverted person works their magic on me, or i meet people through friends.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.
awkward as hell. i think i go for other introverts mostly so it's a lot of confusion and holding back at first. it's been awhile since i've been with someone new though, so i don't completely remember.

14. Do you mind being alone?
i love being alone, just not for too long.

Interesting thread. A lot of diverse, yet similar responses here. :)

1. Type/Gender/Age (gender/age are optional of course!)

INFP, Male, 24

2. I've often heard ENFP's are the most introverted types, and that INFP's with strong N can mistake themselves for ENFP's. ENFP's, do you relate to the title of introverted extravert? INFP's: same question but in reverse.

Definitely. I've often thought about whether or not I was actually ENFP because of my heavy Ne and need to be as open minded and uncritical as possible. Plus, I get a cocaine high from spending time with new people and seeking out new possibilities in general, so there's that. At the end of the day though, I feel as if introversion/extroversion is just something you learn to balance depending on your state of mind and for me, personally, I'll always finding myself experiencing the most depth and energy in some imaginary construct I daydreamed during a cigarette, alone at 3 in the morning.

3. How does your auxilary function manifest itself?

Humour/creativity, mostly. Even during my darkest of days or when I'm balls deep in a serious argument, I'll often times just lose all sense of seriousness and find something funny about the situation to focus on and turn the tone around completely, which I imagine my friends/romantic interests appreciate greatly. Other times, Ne can cause me to stay on the fence when it comes to certain morality issues I probably should take a decisive stand on. It's like an overwhelming sense of grey because there's just too many possibilities to factor in when choosing one person's word against the other. Either way, Ne is a God send when things are looking bleak and and I wouldn't give it up for anything.

4. How would others describe you? How would you describe yourself?

Physically, all my work mates have described me as having the same haircut and build as a young Arnold Schwarzenegger back in his heyday with an unusually deep voice to boot haha, and I'm guessing they appreciate my quirky sense of humour too, but those who have really got to know me, like close friends and family, will see that heavy Fi exposed and realize I'm actually quite sensitive and take a lot of things to heart, which I'm quite aware of. I'd just be content with the reputation of being "that guy who has drunken heart to hearts with you at a house party while everyone else is in the kitchen," if that means anything.

5. How do you react to being put on the spot?

I get a thrill out of it. As much as I try to act humble, I'm happy to be the centre of attention for whatever reason. I'm not too good with straight up aggression though. Ain't no one got time for that shit.

6. How does your inferior manifest itself?

I've heard Extroverted Thinking is all about decisive action and a "don't question it, just do it" mentality, which manifests itself quite well at work, (chef,) which preaches organization and getting things done as quickly and efficiently as possible. I've also heard inferior functions have kind of an "all or nothing" approach to them, which explains why I turn full ESTJ/ENTJ mode when I feel like my masculinity's at stake and literally puff my chest out, raise an eyebrow and start acting as casually intimidating as possible, (for anybody naive enough to believe it.) At a price though. The more I tap into it, the more I feel I need to be alone and stare at the walls for a few hours.

7. How do/did you perform in school? What were your strengths and weaknesses as a student?

I was fairly complacent in school. Never really applied myself as much as I would have liked to in hindsight. Only two subjects I really excelled at were English and Food Technology. And now I have a BA in English and work in the catering industry. Go figures.

8. Do you journal/blog? What are the things you usually focus on in your journal. I ask that in a general sense, I'm not looking for specific events on your life you wrote about, but if you don't mind including specifics, feel free.

Yup. Kept a Blogspot account up to date for about four years of my life up until around mid 2012. 100+ posts. Usually just talked about what random piece of obscure media I mindlessly consumed at the time and whatever interesting themes/ideas it provoked for me. I do get the urge to go back and update, but I do feel need to edit and iron out all the cringe worthy moments from my more uhhh... "personal entries" before revisiting.

9. Do you have an easy time hiding your feelings from others? When do you usually hide your feelings?

Depends on the situation. I usually hide my feelings when I'm feeling upset over something that other people, might see as small or trivial, out of fear of bringing people down because of my attitude and the knowledge that it won't matter so much later on during the day, causing a lot of issues of passive aggressiveness and bottling up emotions when I should be letting people in.

10. What types do you click with the best, what types do you clash with worst?

Probably NF types are those who I tend to click with the best. Or at least, on an emotional level. SP types are lots of fun too. I feel safe and confident a lot of the time when I'm in their company. I generally don't clash with any specific "type", just certain people in general.

11. How do you feel about sex? Is it a positive healthy thing in your life?

At the risk of sounding preachy, sex can either be a very intimate thing to do as an expression for how much you love and cherish someone very close to you, or something to be done when two bodies are lonely, bored and intoxicated beyond all belief. Either way, some ground rules need to be established for the latter so either party doesn't feel hurt in any way. But yeah, sex is a fairly positive thing in my life. I'm just not the one to do the chasing by any means.

12. How do you make friends (Geographical convenience/mutual interests/shared values)? Do you tend to initiate the friendship, or does it just sort of happen?

Usually through other friends/mutual acquaintances/work. Strange question really. How does anyone make friends, really? It either happens or it doesn't. I'm lucky enough to have had the same core group of friends my whole life. Plus, I live in a fairly small town in the Northern England. Chances are, you'll always run into one person you know from school or an old job if you're out on the town. And my general attitude is the more the merrier, really.

13. Same question as 12, but about romantic relationships.

Met my last girlfriend while I was working at a coffee shop who thought I was a cute and gave me her number. I don't think I've ever been proactive enough to actively seek out romantic relationships when for the most part, I'm happy being single.

14. Do you mind being alone?

Yes and no. On the one hand, I do love being on my own, with my own thoughts, with my own imagination, that feeling of total and utter freedom. But on the other, being isolated for a prolonged period of time gives you this sense of tunnel vision and jaded perspective that kills all sense of creativity and love for the world you know so little about. And I feel perspective is very important to NFPs, (INFPs in particular) which can really make or break somebody's personality. So finding the right balance is definitely important between becoming a cynical asshole and a fun loving person with a few eccentric hobbies, for sure.
