Manipulation - influencing or attempting to influence the behavior or emotions of others for one's own purposes.

So tell me, to see manipulation, you need to see the purpose, a goal, an end-game. What do you see as the goal here?

I have quietly, from the sidelines, been reading this thread for the past several days. But Tiltyred's recent post has forced me to jump in.

Seriously? Is this comment in any way constructive or helpful in maintaining meaningful discourse here? Even if this was just an impulsive rant on Tiltyred's part, it descended to the level of an ad hominem attack against INFPs in general (and it seems to me PeaceBaby in particular). This is not the kind of forum that we are running here... where polite discourse is undermined by ad hominem attacks.

And even if you agree with the substance of what Tiltyred is saying about how frustrated she is at seeing the INFJs in this thread bend over backwards to accomodate INFPs' criticisms, shame on Tiltyred for undercutting the strength of her argument by allowing herself to engage in a vitriolic diatribe.

So I add my "shush" to the chorus here. Tiltyred did not handle her anger very productively or persuasively. I would have had far more respect for her argument if she had maintained a more emotion-free tone.

And for what it's worth, while I haven't agreed with everything @PeaceBaby has said in this thread, it is my observation that she has bent over backwards to the INFJs to try to make herself understood in a polite fashion. There can be little doubt that her primary goal is one of understanding... even if she has periodically expressed her frustration. I should also say that almost all of the INFJs have likewise expressed themselves with politeness and an obvious desire to achieve mutual understanding.

Shouldn't that be everyone's goal here: mutual understanding?
