This is just one of my Ni inspired ideas. Oh gawd, I am so bored that I am making a political MBTI. :doh:

For those who are familiar with the political compass test, it suggests that political ideology falls along two axises, one for the socioeconomic left and right, and the other for individual freedom (liberty) which translates to libertarian and authoritarian.

However, I think this is still too simplistic. Combining the social positions with the economic positions is an American phenomenon that has occurred as a result of pigeonholing within the Democratic and Republican parties. This also does not account for the primary motive of individual's conduct, morality.

As a result, we end up with four dichotomies.

Liberty - Authoritarian versus Libertarian
Economic - Socialism versus Capitalism
Social -Progressive versus Traditional
Morality - Relativism versus Objectivism

(These are just intuitively grabbed, and I welcome any other suggestions)

That means that we can construct 16 different political types.

Each type, of course, would have its own description.

And yes, I have completely lost my mind.

Oh no, she's done it again.

I'd figure that politically instead of being structured like MBTI, it'd be structured more like the SLOAN, because it doesn't presume to make an order for all preferences to be used but rather has four continuums. In that case, we could have quite a difference between an |R|ast and an ra|S|t.

Very interesting. I'm not too familiar with the structure of the SLOAN so I'll have to research it a bit.

COOL
Interesting idea: It would be intriguing to see if there is any correlation between your test and MBTI.

How would this test go about testing somebodies preference for 'relativist' or 'objectivist' in regards to morality?

Interesting idea: It would be intriguing to see if there is any correlation between your test and MBTI.

How would this test go about testing somebodies preference for 'relativist' or 'objectivist' in regards to morality?

Since they are such broad definitions, I think I would define them in terms of values for this test....

relativism: The concept that certain values held in a cultural system or by individuals can be viewed only in terms of the principles, background, frame of reference, and history that characterize them. The view that truth governed by those values is relative and not absolute. It varies from people to people, time to time.

objectivism: The concept that certain values held in a cultural system or by individuals can be viewed in terms that they are true no matter what beliefs people or cultures may hold. The view that truth governed by those values is absolute and not relative. It does not vary from people to people, time to time.

These ideas, applied to morality, actually correlate very strongly with extreme versions of Fe and Fi. Relativism is applied in the context of maintaining harmony via questioning the absolution of beliefs whereas objectivism is applied in the context of protecting values via affirming absolution of beliefs.

Some possible questions I could ask are....

Do you believe there is usually only one correct way of doing things as opposed to many? Y N (Objectivism question)
Do you believe your values correspond with universal truth? Y N (Objectivism question)
Do you believe that there are no primitive or savage cultures, just different people? Y N (Relativism question)
Do you believe your values correspond with your past experiences? Y N (Relatvism question)

Obviously these need a lot of tweaking.

@Kiddo

Let me answer your questions then...

Do you believe there is usually only one correct way of doing things as opposed to many? N
Do you believe your values correspond with universal truth? Y
Do you believe that there are no primitive or savage cultures, just different people?N
Do you believe your values correspond with your past experiences? Y

So?

This doesn't really make sense. Opposite types shouldn't be next to each other.
EDIT: It does. I got it wrong.

I combined MBTI and Political Compass

O-R = E-I
T-P = S-N
C-S = T-F
A-L = J-P

Guardians

Conservative
ISTJ = RACT
ESTJ = OACT
Authoritarian
ISFJ = RAST
ESFJ = OAST

Creators

Liberal
ISTP = RLCT
ESTP = OLCT
Socialist
ESFP = OLST
ISFP = RLST

Intellectuals

Conservative
ENTJ = OACP
INTJ = RACP
Liberal
ENTP = OLCP
INTP = RLCP

Visionaries

Authoritarian
ENFJ = OASP (Many dictators are said to be ENFJs)
INFJ = RASP
Socialist
ENFP = OLSP
INFP = RLSP

Authoritarians are FJ types.
Conservatives are TJ types.
Socialists are FP types.
Liberals are TP types.

The most moderate types are ISFJ, INTJ, ENTP, and ESFP. The most extreme types are ENFJ, ESTJ, INFP, and ISTP.

My type is RLCP. Meaning I act like an INTP politically. Could be right.
