Hey, I have taken a few cognitive functions test and continue to get results like, Ne 95%, Te 95%, Fi 70% and 20% Si with Ti usually around 75%. I was wondering if someone could possibly differentiate between the two. I don't feel like I have vallues in the way Fi users do, but at times I'll say things like "Its sad that someone would willfully choose to be on the wrong side of history for the gratification of the moment and financial rewards" in regards to Bill O'Reilly. Are comments like that more Ti or Fi related? I also had conversation where I was warning against being content with the middle (Ie living in the suburbs, punching the clock to get by before retiring and moving to Del Boca Vista Florida in order to wait to die) because my friend was making fun of someone who aspired to greater heights than he had. Also would Ne-Fi be more prone to obsessively attempting to understand the point of view of the other person, or would that be the domain of Ne-Ti-Fe? I really do want to understand the other persons thought process, why they believe what they believe, how I can find common ground, and maybe change their mind. At the same time I really dislike people because I dislike having to take care of their emotional well being, I dislike having to filter myself at times, at other times I feel that I don't say enough (Low Fe).

These "snapshots" may be helpful:

NeFi - Discoverer Advocate

The theme for ENFPs is inspiration, both of themselves and others. Talents lie in grasping profound significance, revealing truths, and motivating others. Very perceptive of others' hidden motives and purposes. Interested in everything about individuals and their stories as long as they are genuine. Contagious enthusiasm for "causes" that further good and develop latent potential and the same zeal for disclosing dishonesty and inauthenticity. Frequently moved to enthusiastically communicate their "message."

Ne - Interpreting situations and relationships; picking up meanings and interconnections; being drawn to change "what is" for "what could possibly be"; noticing what is not said and threads of meaning emerging across multiple contexts. Noticing the possible meanings of what you might wear: "Wearing this might communicate…"

Fi - Valuing; considering importance and worth; reviewing for incongruity; evaluating something based on the truths on which it is based; clarifying values to achieve accord; deciding if something is of significance and worth standing up for. Evaluating whether you like an outfit or not: "This outfit suits me and feels right."

Te - Segmenting; organizing for efficiency; systematizing; applying logic; structuring; checking for consequences; monitoring for standards or specifications being met; setting boundaries, guidelines, and parameters; deciding if something is working or not. Sorting out different colors and styles; thinking about the consequences, as in "Since I have to stand all day…"

Si - Reviewing past experiences; "what is" evoking "what was"; seeking detailed information and links to what is known; recalling stored impressions; accumulating data; recognizing the way things have always been. Remembering the last time you wore a particular item or the last time you were at a similar event—maybe even remembering how you felt then.

NeTi - Explorer Inventor

The theme for ENTPs is inventing, finding ingenious solutions to people and technical problems. Talents lie in developing ideas into functional and innovative applications that are the first of their kind. Thrive on finding new ways to use theories to make systems more efficient and people better off. Hunger for new projects. Have faith in their ability to instantly come up with new approaches that will work. Engineers of human relationships and systems as well as in the more scientific and technological domains.

Ne - (same)

Ti - Analyzing; categorizing; evaluating according to principles and whether something fits the framework or model; figuring out the principles on which something works; checking for inconsistencies; clarifying definitions to get more precision. Analyzing your options using principles like comfort or "Red is a power color."

Fe - Connecting; considering others and the group-organizing to meet their needs and honor their values and feelings; maintaining societal, organizational, or group values; adjusting to and accommodating others; deciding if something is appropriate or acceptable to others. Considering what would be appropriate for the situation: "One should or shouldn't wear…" or "People will think…"

Si - (same)

Clearly ENFP has a more "fluffy" feel than the more "technical" ENTP. The trick is distinguishing a particularly sciencey ENFP from a particularly humanistic ENTP... what you have to identify is whether you seek more purity in your T or F function - ENFPs are more concerned about perfecting their ethical/feeling values, and figuring out what is right and wrong, while we really don't care much if something is logically perfect as long as it's effective in the external world. ENTPs are more concerned about perfecting their logical systems, and figuring out what is correct and incorrect, while they really don't care much if something is perfect in terms of feeling impact as long as it's effective in the external world. We'll spend more time ruminating on those things, accordingly.

I've also heard the comparison that ENTPs are more charismatic while ENFPs are more charming, which I find surprisingly accurate. :)

Thank you, that is very interesting and it confirms my ENFP style.

I think ENTPs and ENFPs are as distinct as night and day. If you talk a bit more I'll be able to give a hint, but from your little paragraph I'm going to go with ENTP. For some reason ENTPs like to nitpick at the Fi function or ENFPs, often show a characteristic sarcastic humor and you can tell their Fe inputs here and then.
I'm going to go with ENTP for now just for the fact that you seem to be confused or unaware of what Fi is and I don't think an ENFP would be capable of that, or at least me, since I've always felt Fi as my own personal (and sometimes unwanted) pathos from a small age.

Wow, what a juicy topic. For the last half an hour I've been tossing this around in my mind since reading it. I guess one key thing to note is that I've ran across plenty of ENxPs that are more unsure of their type than any other type. I chalk that up to dominant Ne always seeing a possibility that "I could be X type instead because of (reasons), on the other hand I could be X type because of (reasons)" Dominant Ne usually has a hard time settling on a single answer because there can always be more that wasn't considered and thus closing the loop on an idea or concept is challenging ( something stronger Si types do rather well).

So with both types its wise to consider the tertiary function (Fe or Te) just as important as the dominant and auxiliary because it plays a pivotal role in the personality. For me its very much Ne+Ti+Fe because my Fe is the function I use to rationalize things outside of myself (outside of the logical confines of my own mind). Fe is the rational function that motivates me to share my insights with people and to try to change or enhance their sentiments towards my point of view. In my case, I would like everyone to universally value logical deduction when it comes to evaluating big ideas. I believe everyone is capable of reasoning and thus no matter what our personal biases are I think we can all find common ground through logical reasoning.
My ENFP counterparts ( I'm not trying to speak for them but this is second hand experience plus basic reasoning) kind of do the same thing I do except they use Te in place of my Fe to try to categorically systemize things outside of the value driven confines of their own minds. Te motivates them to 'experiment' with their ideas by directly engaging in the world around them, not to change other people's sentiments, but to validate their own internal sentiments. I see ENFPs as much more wiling than ENTPs to become part of something, a movement, rather than just be an impartial (often skeptical) analyst on the sidelines. ENFPs would rather tinker with something and see where the dominos fall rather than hypothesize where they would fall.
Reminds me of a debate I had with an ENFP friend where she thought socialist principles were a good idea ( they lined up with her personal values) whereas I had a more skeptical outlook testing the logical axioms of socialist propositions. The exchange we had was absolutely enlightening because the way we tried to convey our points to the other was starkly different. My goal was to try to reason with her through logical deduction on it didn't work while hers was to appeal to my sense of morality on why it worked ( or at least should work). I said it doesn't really seem to work because of X , she said "how do you know? have you TRIED x, have you really struggled and seen the look on a poor mother's face when she can't pay her child's medical bills?" Yep , she goes full bohemian and attempts to live a minimalist lifestyle underscoring her overall point that having an abundance of wealth doesn't make one happy. I respect that about her since she at least tries to live some of her values. She is literally experimenting with her values in an objective way (Te) by choosing a particular lifestyle and seeing what results from it. I don't see us ENTPs all too willing to live our values rather we analyze them and rule them in or out logically looking for inconsistencies in the thinking and such. My thinking was we don't need to claim other people should live by X ( even if it perfectly harmonizes with our own values) if the it fails axiomatically from the logical getgo. We can very much discuss it in a rational manner and hopefully people will see the universal appeal in reason and draw out reasonable conclusions.

Take another controversial figure like Donald Trump. Some people love him, some people despise him and some people are more neutral. It's really interesting to notice how people think when it comes to a controversial subject. Just by discussion over a controversial topic I can already sort of deduce which cognitive functions are dominant or taking the leading role in one's thinking. There are hardcore Trump supporters that use a primarily Fi reason for liking him ( and by the same token an Fi reason for despising him). Trump said X , X really agrees with or opposes my values, thus Trump must be generally great/awful. I typically find the more F driven crowd being more polarized about him ( or any other controversial topic) than the T driven people. Ne or intuition also plays a huge role in this. iNtuition is typically said to be future orientated and thus it is already looking for the connections between Trump in the present to a hypothetical president Trump in the future. The formula is kind of like :
Trump at present ----> intuitive connections/theorizing------->Trump in the future, possibly as president. This is why you see some people saying "Oh when he's president , America will be great again" or " If he becomes president its all going to shit and I'm moving." Sensor types tend not to theorize as much about the possible versions of the future but rather focus more on the present (here and now) and what things led to the present i.e. from the past. This is why when talking to other intuitives about the politics of Trump I always end up getting into a hypothetical conversation about if he became president versus talking about the man as he is now and how he was back then as I do with sensors.

TL;DR If you made it his far get yourself a coffee and a cookie because damn, I wrote a lot. Primary difference with ENTP vs ENFP is how we rationalize information and not necessarily how we see the information. ENTPs are going to be more impartial, distant, and analytical but then try to appeal to your sense of reason by being personable by literally acclimating themselves to your sentiments. If you appreciate humor then I will try to get you to understand my reasoning by making you laugh but think. ENFPs are going to be more personal(not personable) and will really try to understand where your personal sense of value comes from. They have a unique ability at looking at your heart/soul ( vs. your mind like the ENTP)and instead of acclimating themselves to your sentiments they will try to acclimate yours to theirs ( typically in a warm and encouraging way). Its not that they will try to change your values but just get you to really understand and appreciate theirs to the extent they appreciate yours.
