Default Common (...ahem, BS) Myths about ENFPs

    1) ENFPs where their emotions on their sleeves

    2) ENFPs are social butterflies who have trouble maintaining long term friendships

    3) ENFPs care about what other people think about them

    4) ENFPs are sluts/philanderers/"fast"

    5) ENFPs love everyone

    6) ENFPs are gutless, butterfly chasing weaklings
    PUH-LEEZ
you really want to witness the true power of an ENFP? put a child or one of our friends in danger. you WILL feel the wrath of the mighty tempest that is Fi as it cascades merciless judgement upon thee! ENFPs are knights of justice and defenders of the weak and innocent and, if pushed, will give any ENTJ a run for their money.

Edit: I've taken down the descriptions, except for number 6, which I believe is true of all ENFPs.

    now, for some more

    7) ENFPs are always happy

    8) ENFPs have difficulty with keeping their emotions out of the way when a logical decision needs to be made

    8) They create mountains out of molehills.

Your thread's purpose seems to be a desire to refute myths about ENFPs. I am here to help.

Zombies can't be trolls and trolls can't be zombies.

Unless one wants the mythological system to crash...in which case, one will not only be drowning in rubble, but one's lungs will be full of dust. And asbestos.

    :lemonade:

    9) They are not zombs.

I find the 'debunking' of these myths just as stereotypical and false as the myths themselves. None of these old or new stereotypes are routinely generated from the the ENFP functions. What you get is just a list of behaviors that only some ENFP's display.

I'm not claiming they apply to 100% of ENFPs, but they sure apply to a lot more than the myths
which "debunks" in particular did you have issue with?

Elfboy you're such a queen lol. I mean that in the best possible way
For all that we have done, as a civilization, as individuals, the universe is not stable, and nor is any single thing within it. Stars consume themselves, the universe itself rushes apart, and we ourselves are composed of matter in constant flux. Colonies of cells in temporary alliance, replicating and decaying and housed within, an incandescent cloud of electrical impulses. This is reality, this is self knowledge, and the perception of it will, of course, make you dizzy.

I find that just about all of them can be better explained through the enneagram.

1.This just depends on how restrained your Fi is. You don't think an ENFP 4w3 sx for example would wear their emotions on their sleeves?

    2. Just because you are slow to connect does not mean that other ENFP's are. I think a lot of ENFP's are quick to conenct and that this ultimately has little to do with your MBTI type.

    3. You're SO last, of course you don't care, but many ENFP's do. Once again, this has more to do with the enneagram than MBTI.

    4. I don't want to offend anyone but there are definitely enough stories about there about Ne dom sluts. You can't just cherry pick, they do exist and you can't neglect that. I know you'll have something to say about this, I'll say more about this after this next point.

    5. This one may have some worth. The Te bitchslap is very real.

My general problem with your analysis is that you insist on using caricatures and overly-simplified lists to explain typology. Let me use an analogy, say a bunch of 3rd world refugees who had no previous interaction with the western world migrated to USA. One man ends up hanging with Jersey-Shore-types and goes clubbing 3 days a week. He then describes people in developed countries as individuals who love to drink, party and sleep around. His fellow refugee on the other hand ends up taking an interest in learning and reading. She enjoys a quiet cup of coffee with her friends in the library where they can learn about things together. She then describes people in developed countries as people who are dilligent, intellectually curious and private. Who's right? Well as pieces of analysis, both of them failed, because they only described a part of the population and then over-generalised it. To me, this is what you're doing with MBTI. You're taking behaviours that ultimately have no real causal correlation with types or functions and you over-generalise them. Like the second refugee, you are just replacing one over-simplified caricature with another one - one that describes your particular corner of the world better.
