INTP: Okay, ***mull, mull, mull, grind, grind, grind, mull, mull, mull, compute, compute, compute, twist, twist, twist, mull, mull, mull, analyze, analyze, analyze, input, input, input, options, options, options, analyze, analyze, analyze, experience, experience, experience, ideas, ideas, ideas, analyze, analyze, analyze ***PING***

    And the answer is: 42

ENFP: Well, first I thought it could be 12. Or maybe 3. It could even be 5,609,720. What do you think?

    INTP: It's 42.

ENFP: 42?!?! That's interesting. Never thought of 42. Why?

    INTP: 42.

ENFP: Yes, I understand, but why.

    INTP: 42.

ENFP: Jesus H. Christ, are you a computer with a 0/1 function? I asked WHY????????

    INTP: 42. It's 42. I don't know how many times I have to say 42.

    ENFP: AJKLSJFLJKLAFLJKDJFKLSJKLDSFLJDJLLJFDKSLJKFAKLJSFJ JLFDJLLDJF

INTP: Why are you getting emotional? I gave you an answer. A simple, easy-to-comprehend-even-for-your-dumb-ass answer. 42.

    ENFP: WTF?????????

    INTP: I repeat, 42.

ENFP: WHY THE FUCK IS IT 42????

INTP: Just because your inferior mind doesn't understand, doesn't make it un-42.

ENFP: Dude, I'm trying to understand why it's 42.

INTP: The truth is it is 42.

ENFP: What a tard. Doesn't he understand THE WORDS COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH???? WHY? W_H_Y????

    INTP: Foooooooooooorrtttttyyyyyyyyyy-twwwwwwooooooooooooooo.

ENFP: I fucking give up. Okay. Asshole. We'll do 42. But if it fucking goes awry, I'm holding you personally responsible. GOT THAT????

    INTP: 42.

ENFP: OMG!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!!!! 42 IS LIKE THE AWESOMEST, MOST FANTASTIC THING EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! ***hugs***

    INTP: I told you. 42.
Kinda reminds me of my example of encounters with Ne:
Using your example of purchasing Oscar Meyer fun snack; I guess a Ne-dom could ask me if I wanted to purchase some, and I would say no. To which the Ne-dom asks me why, and I give a rough outline why I don't want it. Then the Ne-dom persistently keeps trying to convince me to buy the Oscar Meyer fun snack, coming up with different justifications, a new one everytime I say no and give some answer to each reason. From my point of view, it's more than clear that I don't want to buy the Oscar Meyer snake, and having to constantly to answer various different reasons why I don't want to seems rather unnecessary not to mention really really really really annoying; and has the effect of me not wanting to buy the Oscar Meyer fun snack even more(which is the opposite effect the Ne-dom is striving for).

In the time we spent talking about why I don't want to buy the Oscar Meyer fun snack, we could've been looking at other stuff to buy. But no, we're still discussing the Oscar Meyer fun snack, along with other stuff I'm not interested in either. Example:"Oscar Meyer fun snack tastes good with X,Y,Z." I don't care about XYZ, or even if I do I don't see how that changes the fact I still don't want the Oscar Meyer fun snack - even with XYZ!

I could not, would not, on a boat.
I will not, will not, with a goat.
I will not eat them in the rain.
I will not eat them on a train.
Not in the dark! Not in a tree!
Not in a car! You let me be!
I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I will not eat them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them ANYWHERE!

I told you I want no damn

Hmmm!!!!! WOW, that is true...This is PARTICULARLY true if Ne/Fi is battling against Ti I bet....Where Ne is just fighting for what Fi wants, and not really using Te at all (damn, this ain't going anywhere - just cut it and try to find a MORE EFFECTIVE solution).

That's interesting! Thanks for sharing, Peguy. You always have good ideas.

On the other hand, on a more positive note, I think mutual respect can lead to an INTP/ENFP powerhouse:

ENFP: What do you want to do? How about 12, or 3, or....?

    INTP: I considered 42.

ENFP: Hey, YEAH! 42 could be great because of X.

INTP: Yes, XYZ. What do you think?

ENFP: Awesome!!! To do X we could do ABC, and to do Y we could do DEF, and to do Z we could do GHI.

INTP: Interesting. How would you manage to do it?

ENFP: Well, see we could go about it this or that way.

INTP: This is better than that.

    ENFP: Because of M?

    INTP: Yes, that's right.

ENFP: Oh, right! Good idea. Well this would indeed be better than that, and to implement this....

INTP: Sounds good. You want to do it!?

    ENFP: Yep, let's go!!!!!!!!!

He loves it. This is one thing I don't get about my husband. He loves seeing me go from 0-180 in 0.54 seconds. And yes, it is too easy. He thinks it's endearing, I guess. Though I can't think of why.

Yeah, sounded kind of strange to read that on the list considering my previous interaction with INTPs in the past.

Even if it was true, the onus is on the INTP to solve that. Every person of every type should explain their thoughts if they want good communication.

Sure. Ti will analyze and seek out the best solution in any given situation. Sometimes we think we might have found that solution where in fact we don't have all the information or expertise needed to come to the proper conclusion. That's when Te can often come in and help us reach the finish line.

From my perspective, conflicts arise when my Ti-based reasoning has gone beyond the realm of supposition and into the realm of FACT. INTPs value the objective truth above all else, so we tend to second guess ourselves and question the available data until we're certain. So, when someone else starts probing our conclusions for verification, we view it as redundant at best or insulting at worst. Why? Because through following that internal Ti dialogue to its logical conclusion, we at least feel as though we've already asked and answered all these questions!

Nice list... and some of the items were particularly thought out and on the mark (such as the inherent expectation of a fully formed idea vs total brainstorming ... Unless the session was specifically earmarked for completely random brainstorming, I find myself pissy when people start throwing out ideas that a second of consideration would show to specifically not have a chance in hell of working or being useful.)

The pseudo Ne+Si sensuality thing is really just... sensation. Don't tie it to a function. It's just doing something that feels good -- although maybe it also is part of the "explore -> understanding" motivation too.

Yup. What works in theory, even if the theory is correct, might be stymied by practical truths, and a workaround will be needed.

Yeah, although I just find that kind of frustrating (rather than insulting) because I understand not everyone will see what I've done right away and I need to give them enough that they can get from Point A to Point B.

If you really want to offend me, take it a step further and accuse me from the start of not being objective or of just "believing what I want to believe" simply because I've reached a different conclusion from you. That's a complete insult to my intellectual integrity and I typically push back hard; usually if I screw up, it comes not from catering to my own bias but from either framing the situation differently or else from not having all the facts while thinking I did.
