Agreed. Probably introducing a guy to friends and family is where this most comes into play. One thing I've discovered is that the more secure someone is, the less their behaviour changes in unfamiliar settings. I wish I had understood that a long time ago. It's actually a good thermometer to know where he is at. Someone can look confident when they actually aren't. It's situations like that where the default mode comes out. Usually he becomes threatened by your connection to those people and purposely acts difficult or rude so that you are put in the position of deciding who you will side with.
