So.. what's the difference in ENFJ's Enthusiasm and NFness than ENFPs enthusiasm and NFness...

Different motivations behind our enthusiasm and NFness.
ENFJs get jazzed over people and a plan.
ENFPs get jazzed over possibilities and improvisation

The ENFJ's will actually go do something about it?

 Maybe.

Damn lol. Probably just different ways of going about it all then. I think ENFPs make me so googly-eyed that i forget to figure out more about them

ENFPs (and INFPs) do stuff about it too, but their are some major differences, the most major being; ENFJs are forgiving, NFPs aren't. ENFJs just want to stop the conflict and fighting so that everyone can go back to being themselves and be one big happy family. Not so with NFPs. if you oppress the weak or take away people's freedom, we will kill you. granted, this is not a part of our personality one sees everyday (or even every year), but if something goes against our values, we will stop it at any cost.
the causes we fight are often different too. a few common examples are
NFJ: world peace, helping starving children in africa, sending aid to people in crisis (like I said, big happy family right?), likely to support socialism
NFP: standing up for the weak, punishing those who hurt others, destroying those who abuse power, likely to be libertarian, (notice a common theme of smite the wicked)
both: civil rights, overthrowing a corrupt dictator, tracking down pedophiles

This is way too simplistic. There's a lot of overlap and doesn't fit either type like a glove. It's silly to say "ENFJ's are forgiving and NFPs aren't". Isn't that more individually based whether or not a person is forgiving. I have seen people of both types vehemently fight for all the causes listed and many others that don't necessarily feel like they need to fight for a "cause". It is mainly up to the individual.

Well we can't have a discussion here without sterotypes and outliers.

To the OP,
Controlled enthusiasm (ENFJ) vs. very organic "in the moment" enthusiasm (ENFP)? Maybe?

I know but I didn't really see how any of that was particularly "ENFJ" or "ENFP" but I do apologize for my abrasiveness. Doesn't it depend on the person's values to know what causes they would fight for?

Interesting theory.

ENFJs are decidedly... decided regarding their opinions of others, so does that mean if you let one down itd take a lot to get back into their good graces?
Anybody can hold a grudge.

haha actually i generally like plans too. i like writing them out and i get hyped up as things draw near. sometimes you'd almost mistake me for a J, except my wishy-washy second guessing, and my utter willingness to change plans at the drop of a hat if something else sounds better and annoyance if i can't do so.

hm. i would actually call myself pretty forgiving in the long run. but with issues i think are really important, i want things to be righted first, and then i can care about harmony. plus the problem with harmony is that sometimes it makes negative patterns harder to see - they can be disguised, almost, and ignored. conflict is not generally preferable, but it is preferable when there is significant danger that a harmful pattern is being downplayed.

Interesting theory.

it seems like NFJs are generally more cautious with trusting, while NFPs seem to be more baseline trusting. with the INFJs and ENFJ i know, if you break their trust, even accidentally, it's fairly difficult to earn it back again - even though i think most of them will act more cordially around me even when pissed. on the other hand, ENFPs seem to be more visibly pissed off and hurt, but, once the issue has been talked through, also are probably quicker to trust again...

i think ENFPs and ENFJs are both fundamentally forgiving by nature though. isn't that kind of characteristic of all the Idealists?

Controlled enthusiasm (ENFJ) vs. very organic "in the moment" enthusiasm (ENFP)? Maybe?

 i like that word, "organic". there is something earthy about ENFP when excited. whereas to me ENFJs have more of a sophistication about them - sometimes glowing with excitement, but more controlled and aware. (though both types have that "silly switch", don't they? hee hee)

someone once compared ENFP excitement to that of a golden retriever and i think that's pretty entertaining/accurate

HAHAHAHA, I'm typically very monotone unless I am experiencing strong emotions or trying to influence the mood of the room while most of the ENFPs I know are seem very playful most of the time. It's quite an interesting contrast.

The key to differentiating ENFJs from ENFPs may be in differentiating NJ from NP. The perceptive function is different. ENFJs perceive with Ni, which derives energy from staying with a vision. NJs tend to take in information in the present that will help them reach a certain point in the future, an "objective." On the other hand, NPs are energized by Ne, which follows emergent possibilities. So they take in information that leads to a changing understanding of the world. Notice that this goal isn't time-bound. The process is the destination.

I think ENFPs are truly changelings. Unlike SPs, they're not in the moment in a physical sense, but NPs are really in the moment with their abstractions. Especially with ENxPs, the rapid transformations of the understanding of the world really show up on the outside.

As far as differentiating the way that NFness manifests itself, I'd say the following. Although all NFs are focused on both people and abstractions, xNFJs are more obviously relational and focused on how they stand with people. xNFJs are additionally focused on abstractions that can help them understand and develop relationships. xNFPs are focused on abstractions that will help them understand the world, albeit they understand the world in a very personal way. xNFPs are interested in people as they embody those abstractions.

I'm not sure if I'm making the distinction clear. When I'm having an identity crisis, I'm focused on refining my understanding of the world. This includes understanding people but not in the context of having a relationship with them, more so just about understanding the significance of their lives. I have a hunch that when xNFJs are under stress they focus on getting on the right foot in their relationships and in their projects.

Feel free to share your reactions. I'd like to hear if this resonates with people or not.

The first couple of paragraphs make sense to me, but the last part does not resonate with me. When I'm under stress I want everything right in my relationships and my life, not abstractions.
