I felt an anger come up at the guy who had yelled faster than any reaction toward the driver, and concluded later that it was because the sound of somebody else being upset shakes me out of my detachment zone on a physical level, and I am averse to that. But, more than to an accident almost happening? Even though I expressed none of it, I was guilty for quite a while about my inward reaction to what I saw. Maybe that guy had a family at home who couldn't afford to lose him.
Yeah I've been in similar situations countless times. I remember snapping at someone for angrily reading aloud articles on the lack of government response to Hurricane Katrina, and thinking "why am I more angry with her than I am with the situation??"

I think it's a coping mechanism, in both our cases. We get angry because deep down we know how we could, and should, react to things, but it's just too much. Easier to function when detached but still emotionally aware.

Totally. "Best not to dwell on it. Moving on!"

Bloated... I'm drinking more water lately. How the hell do people actually drink a gallon of water a day, LAME.
