I'm feeling a bit emotionally exhausted... from debating with people over the internet, haha. But really. I was just debating with my friend. It took me a solid hour to write a careful response that sounded as objective as I could make it, trying to see her side while expressing my side, while trying desperately to not offend or sound obnoxious. Now I'm just waiting for a response (and it's been a while; why isn't she responding???), and have irrational fears that our disagreement makes her hate me. If she does not respond to my latest post (3 paragraphs of carefully worded criticism, and then a confession that debating with friends is really emotionally hard) then I'm just stumped.

I know feeling like this is unhealthy and probably irrational, but when it comes to people who reply curtly and bluntly, and who don't reveal more sensitive emotions (my friend is probably an ISTJ), then I cannot imagine what goes on in their minds. Thus, I conclude that they hate me. Trying to be a functional person who acknowledges and shares my emotions without coming across as needy or self-pitying, but I don't know if it's working.

i doubt that's the standard procedure.

My ESFx SEE 7-4 so sanguine friend said, "I spend time writing out a whole message for you and you only reply with one word! Sometimes you don't even reply! You should type more and include more smilies. I feel like I'm talking to a robot!" Umm? I don't care? xD

I don't feel the need to affirm a thousand times that we're eating dinner at X date and X time if we already scheduled it. I find extra words frivolous, and while I don't have a problem with her extra words, I don't see why I should change my messaging style. =_____=

I don't know, @Mane, perhaps it's more standard than you think. Only it's not shown--other than a few of the word choices you used, but not the actual feelings you shared.

possible, its just that it seems extremely circumstantial, so if you are generalizing it similar cases of how men might deal with divorces and the loss of a family, it is likely, but if you are generalizing it to breakups, i doubt it - at least for me, my other breakups didn't go that way, and am still good friends. thats being said my other breakups where in stillborn relationships, so i might not have enough personal experience to compare as far as other serious long term relationships go. either way, if the matter of how men deal with those sort of things is of interest to you, feel free to ask.
