I am ecstatically happy. I am actually crying a little I'm so happy. For my birthday I'm going to Big Sur and staying at the historic property, Deetjen's, for three days, where people such as Jack Kerouac and Hunter S. Thompson have stayed...as well as my literary idol, Henry Miller - who is the sole inspiration for me wanting to go to Big Sur for over a decade - and I'll be going to the Henry Miller Library while I'm there.
I may stay and camp out in the woods for a couple of days after my exotic luxury stay at an inn on the historic registry, but there are no phones, no television, and no wifi there (in the rooms at the inn)...they take their Big Sur solitude very seriously. They said even cell phone reception is spotty in Big Sur.
I am so freaking excited. I have been wanting to do this FOR FOREVER and about two years ago I said "the next place I'm going outside of L.A. is Big Sur."
And here I go. I am, however, concerned that once I get there I'll forget about how thrilled I am to be living near to the beach and want to live among the redwoods, instead.
Oh, such problems.
