Default INFJs are you a slothful recluse?

An INFJ in another forum said something about us being slothful recluses. When I first read it, I thought it was funny. Upon further consideration, however, I realized that it's a description that fits me a lot of the time. A lot of the jobs I have held allowed me to: 1) organize the work in the section that I managed to flow with peak efficiency, then 2) sit back and read research articles, dabble in interesting research projects, and act as a consultant to people outside the department who needed information, while my employees actually did the "real" work. I think I unwittingly set the workplace up this way so that I would have plenty of dreamy "spacing-out" time alone at my desk during the day!

Sounds about right. INFJ's seem to really need their thinking and puttering time.

That's a nice way to say it.

Yup. Get the system running smoothly and then revel in your accomplishment that is in the same category as "Look what I've created. I have made FIRE!" However, the gears are running super fast at the back of the head and I'm ready to jump in and save the day in a second when needed.

I can see that. But I'm not likely to end up in a place with a cubicle just so I can have my own personal corner. I wouldn't be able to do that haha. Something about a wall within a wall surrounding me..I'd feel too isolated. I like my space, but I'd also want to be within conversation distance so I could hear what's going on and see everyone too. I'd love a job where it would be just one big room I'd be working in, but I'd have my own area without some sort of division.
