I'm curious if any other ENFP's are as camera shy as me. At least any photo that includes my face, which I hate seeing staring back at me in those photos that I feel never capture who I really am.

My ESFP friend is always taking photos, she has an unbelievable amount of them, you can walk back through her life with each album. She is not camera shy in the slightest.

My ENFP brother on the other hand is just as camera shy as I am, although he takes a few more photos than I do, he still struggles with his reaction to seeing himself in an image aswell.

(ESFJ sis no problems taking photos, ESTP sis again no problems, ESFP bro again no problems)

I hate taking photos, don't mind taking photos that are risque, but there is an element of fantasy and role play to it that makes me feel a bit more comfortable with it.

However regular photos, well I just hate doing them.

(yes, I am plagued with a gazillion body image issues anyway so that could be part of it)

I would have just put it down to my own self hate, but my brother has alot more confidence in his looks than I do and yet still hates having his photo taken.

ENFP thing? Or just my own thing?

I hate taking pictures too. Very camera shy. Some people are like, born to flaunt themselves in front of a camera. I've never felt too comfortable in front of one though. Video cameras either.

Maybe not so camera shy here.

My brother is though, and I've always wondered why. (not enfp)

Haha don't get me started, someone filmed me eating a slice of watermelon once, now I just vacate the room as soon as someone pulls a video camera out. (home made porn not included lol)

I love taking pictures of myself, and when people I *love* take pictures of me.

I prefer taking pictures of myself, however.

Because it's like me, knowing/looking at me, which is awesome! :)

I take at least one photo of myself a week, I think.

Also, I use self-photography as a form of artistic expression, I like to take pictures from different angles, while in different moods, of different body parts. :ninja:

I'm weird regarding this, though.

I think "portrait or people" pictures are highly personal, duh, which explains why I prefer to have photos of myself taken by me and by people who love me.

I think I'm a beautiful and interesting creature and I thrive on getting to know and understand me as best as I can, and being the introspective sentimentalist that I am, I find all forms of archiving to be crucial in looking back at my life. :)

Also, I don't have body dysmorphia, but my sister does,^100

And, if you are camera shy, who cares.

I don't like being forced to do anything I don't want to, so in other words, if I want to/feel like being photographed, I'll participate, if not, I won't.

My sister thinks it's weird how many pictures I have of myself. :p

Absolutely abhor it. And cannot get my sensor friends to stop taking pics. I actually have to get pissed at them and ruin the ambiance of the party or whatever occasion we're at to get them to stop. Drives me insane. Seeing a pic of mine physically makes me cringe.

For me, it's pretty much because pictures always confront me with how I look and who I am and how it does not add up. I guess I'm a perfectionist (I'm working on it!), and I feel embarassed to see pics of myself. Maybe, one day, when I feel that the outside finally is up to my standards, I'll like it. Untill that moment, no thanks!

My step father is notorious of taking awful candid pics of everyone. It's become a joke now.

I take pics of myself to post online because I'm such a visual person that I understand other people wanting to see pics. Also, I bug people for pics all the time so I need to be able to have some to show. I just like to see what people are like!

I don't see myself as camera shy per se but I do think I'm not really photogenic. I'm more of a movie reel guy. I look better in motion than in stills. It's the only way you can throw in dorky faces and still get away with it. Dorky being just an example.

Yeah, you have no idea how awesome I find it that you use your own pic as an av. That's some real confidence there.

See, that kind of confidence again is just so alien to me, yet amazing to see. I wish I could see myself in that way, but I have huge issues with myself and I've never ever been confident, only young enough once that image wasn't even an issue.

I don't think it's weird to have alot of pics of yourself, I think it's great. I love my ESFP friends collection and wish I could be more like that.

I love making dorky faces on cam. (eta: snapshots) I do it much more often than "sexy"

Me too. But I'm more of an all-arounder than a niche guy, really. I don't like to be pigeonholed. Unless it's self-deprecative.

Yes this is exactly how I feel too. I had to tell some one on facebook to remove some pictures she took of me while we were out partying, I am always telling my friends to delete pics of me, only some of them, like my esfp friend, won't pander to my insecurities and refuse to take em down.

So why come near me with an object that mostly focusses on my outside? :alttongue:

For the record, I agree with you.

See, I get pics posted of me that are awful, I'm much better at taking good pics of myself. I've posted this before but I gave up on the "having to be perfect before I accept myself" because of a few people I know that feel somewhat overweight (but look FINE) They flip out about pics, hide behind people so you can't see their body and stuff. I don't want to live my life always regretting who I am. I have to accept that I look dorky in most of my pics and just get over it. People already know what you look like, it's not like you are changing anything by not letting pics be taken of you.

I've been listening to one person complaining about her weight since I was a kid - she just keeps getting heavier. She should have enjoyed her body the whole time instead of stressing herself about "I dont like my body"

I know this isn't just body image for you guys, but I'm just saying my thoughts. :)

I think almost every beautiful girl I know claims to be camera-shy. (I'm not particularly, though I have the same dumb grin in every single photo. Facebook has made this particularly obvious!)

Personally, I think it's false modesty. It's something girls are "supposed" to do.

Nothing false about it, in my case at least. Though I do love the idea of a beautiful picture that does capture what I am about. I also know that's unlikely to happen unless you ask a professional to do it, and even then...So I rather pass. I'm also fully aware that this is a flaw of mine, and I am trying to remedy it.
