Just out of curiosity... what qualities do you NFs admire and or respect in others? What qualities do you aspire to be?

Also, what do you NOT respect? What qualities do you have trouble tolerating?

In others (my friends) I admire-

Loyalty, Honesty, Trust. When they give me a helping hand with a problem (especially an emotional one), when they open up on me and let me deal with their problems, when they share experiences or things that matter to them, when they show that they care, when they go out of their way to show that they care or to go out of their way to help me with something, etc. I also admire when my friends know when to be silly and know when to be serious, since that really screws with me when they are overly on one of those. I also admire when people show that they want to bond.

What I don't admire-

The opposite of the above, plus people that abuse drugs or alcohol (and if so if they try to make me do it too, but that's just me). When someone knows about something I value and breaks that without compensating.

EDIT: An example of a value being broken was over the weekend. My friends basically just got drunk... that annoys me. I try to not surround myself with those kinds of people, but it's not a regular occurrence (they just wanted to try it, and didn't invite me because they knew I'd be pissed). So it doesn't matter.

I like honesty. I will generally try to get on with as many people as I can.

I really don't like snobbishness and superiority though. I get really annoyed with people that don't even listen to other people. I don't care about loyalty, honour and other fluffy things, as long as there is respect and understanding. I don't like people who are inflexible and rigid with their values as well, it's just a turn off if you can't forgive someone for some stupid mistake (As an example) because you have some warped sense of honour.

I can be disloyal and hypocritical myself because I change my mind on things very easy, but I don't think these things make me a bad person ;)

Being selfish and winding people up makes me a bad person! :D

I think they covered it all up there pretty thoroughly.

People that are unfair, hypocritical, condescending or intellectually dishonest really piss me off. I will kung-foo kick you so hard your head will roll right off your body.

Respect itself. I like a personally powerful person who shows natural restraint.

What qualities do you aspire to be?

I admire Joe Strummer a lot.

Also, what do you NOT respect? What qualities do you have trouble tolerating?

Hateful ugly words. Things you can't take back.

-People whose default mode is kindness
-Patience
-Reserve
-Imagination and Creativity (in all aspects of life, not just art)
-Individuality, intelligence, and independent thinking
-People who are honest and genuine
-People who value each individual for his/her unique attributes
-People who can "get into" the minds of others and push all their "buttons" to cause a specific emotional reaction. I don't aspire to be this way, nor do I admire anyone who does this to manipulate for personal gain or simply be unkind. I do find it fascinating and impressive, though, and sometimes people can make powerful statements that way.
-People who indulge in post-shower naked happy dances. This is essential.

Dislike
-Violence, authoritarianism and/or coercion
-Unkindness (in most situations, not all), especially deliberate unkindness
-People who pretend to listen while thinking about what they want to say
-People who think in black and white terms and try to answer all questions
-Arrogance
-Hypocrisy
-Basing opinions on first impressions or rash ideas
-Harsh judgement of others
-Basing personal worth (theirs or others) on physical appearance, community stature, $, or education levels
-"Gushing" insincere compliments
-Your mom

I don't think I could outdo this list, Jewelchild. I completely agree with you on every point. (Shower and mom included. :D)

I like honesty, silliness, (com)passion, kindness, and positivity.

I dislike rudeness, arrogance, inconsiderateness, snobbishness, and close-mindedness.

I admire:
Good intentions (which, in my estimation, can outweigh most negatives)
Self-awareness
Rationality
Loyalty
Empathy
Emotional expressiveness
Sense of humor

I particularly dislike:
People who are disingenuous or maliciious
Closed-mindedness

...But, again, "well-intentioned" is really the most important thing to me.

Strength, has always been a big thing for me. And optimism (not overly unrealistic optimism though). People with that inner strength to survive, especially some kind of harsh upbringing or surroundings or something, and come out fairly okay, I find very admirable. Especially people who keep an optimism for life and faith in people despite that too. So, strength in will, love of living, and also authenticity/sincerity--just a person who seems real and themselves. Someone who willingly looks into themselves (introspects) and is their own person. I admire those things. And in general, people who are considerate about others and situations (whether or not they are good at being considerate is another thing though).

Also, what do you NOT respect? What qualities do you have trouble tolerating?
People with negative prejudices, who actively discriminate and judge, I suppose. And if they don't learn that it's wrong. I don't know... this is actually harder for me to think of. Destructive, hurtful people who don't want to change and help themselves.

People who distract me, I hate, and find hard to tolerate, but that's more of a fault of my own when I'm in an irritable mood...
