Yea I agree. I think sometimes a preference (in the MBTI sense of the word) isn't necessarily a 'preference' that you have, it could just be a situation where you happen to be more alive or more 'yourself'. I prefer to be alone quite often, maybe more often than I choose to be around people but I am the most 'myself', the most alive probably around others if that makes sense. Almost a case of not knowing what's good for me and it's easy to get mixed up when doing a test and thinking in terms of MBTI. The language can act as a barrier oftentimes I find

I have one request for ENFPs.

When they say "then I become introverted" what that actually means.

I would like to hear how much this introverted phases last and what do you do during them. Also, do you get out of this state fast if some interesting social offer comes your way?

well for me...and i don't know if i can describe it well...we'll see...is that there are two different types of people in the world...meaning ones that i instantly relate to and feel comfortable with and others who i don't...i am lucky that in the sorts of social and/or work situations i find myself in that i'm usually surrounded by people i do connect with...and if given the choice to be with them or alone...i'll choose them...but if put into a situation surrounded by the other type i prefer to be alone. i am a very open and expressive person and it's important to me to be accepted by my company if i don't feel that then i'll retreat and behave in a more introverted way...or most likely leave the situation...because i don't fake it with people and i can't feign interest where there is none.
so...some of the answers on the test are misleading or hard to know how to answer because...yes i only enjoy being around people that i feel a connection with...but...i don't need to be alone unless around others that i don't...

does that make any sense? and did it even answer the question?

I went for a year or so without much social interaction at all.. During this time I pursued several hobbies, reading, and spirituality... It was a really hard time but looking back it was a good time as well. Now it's different, I do socialise more which is great, as Erina said it makes me feel alive, but it sometimes lacks intensity.

Maybe 'introverted' is an inprecise term here.

I have also had moments of hermitude, but except for the last time when I was a full time student with a plan and needed to be distraction free and needed time to recuperate and think -- those moments of introversion were really symptoms of depression or social anxiety.

There are moments everyone needs for quiet, when you don't feel like going out, etc. And sure I have those, but if I went a week with only hanging out with a friend 1x and having a meal with roommates 1x, I would start feeling down and bored. I need social interaction to feel balanced and active and happy. I also need to get out of the house and be around people.

About 'not knowing a good thing, too much of a good thing, 'etc. if I get too comfortable in a down phase of not wanting to go out, eventually it bites me in the butt and I realize I am lethargic and feeling depressed.

This is why ENFPs and people in general need to keep pushing themselves and motivating themselves to challenge their comfort levels.

Completely agreed. That's why I've been feeling more like an introvert for the past two years. Aside from a few social bursts I've been spending a lot more time by himself than in the past. And that's why I've been feeling down for so long. It only takes a night out with a few old pals to bring my mojo back and for me to feel berzerkly happy and confident and optimistic again, though. If MBTI validates anything it's that E thing.

And I've found out that inducing a hermit-like state to get things done doesn't work for me at all. I get down pretty fast and don't get things done because I can't concentrate. I start using my time in unproductive ways like watching movies and playing games and listening to music all day long.

INFj (or EII) in Socionics is INFP in MBTI (and vice versa). If you ask the INFPs in MBTI, they would tell you they could identify themselves more with the descriptions of INFj (or EII) than of INFp (or IEI). Both INFj (Socionics) and INFP (MBTI) use Fi as their dominant function.

P.S. How do you think it's false? Are you an expert in socionics?
I've been over this 1,000 times...The fact that someone once said INFPs lead with Fi, and INFps lead with Ni doesn't make either true.

I wouldn't say I'm a socionics expert, but I've read a lot on the subject, and have concluded like others have before me that the types always correlate, P to p, and J to j. There are several reasons for this conclusion.

    1. You can find online the socionics descriptions of "being p/j," which correlate to the descriptions of "being P/J," and the socionics tests in which p/j selectors are quite similar to MBTI's P/J selectors.

    2. The better descriptions (Those not on socionics.com) of the types match up best with MBTI (et al) descriptions when P=p, and J=j.

    3. Socionics interpersonal relations descriptions (of varied origin) are only valid when P=p, and J=j. This is most obvious when looking at dual and/or conflicting relationships, because if you mistype the introvert, you'll get the opposite relation.

Note that this is only relevant when analyzing E-I relations, because if you take, for example, an INFp and INTp, but erroneously think you're dealing with an INFj and an INTj, you'll get the same relation listing.

    4. All of the above is better evidence than the opposing case, which is purely theoretical, and is equivalent to "MBTT & Socionics function theories are both 100% accurate." I don't think so.
