Yeah he did get a pretty raw deal.

I was quite fond of Garm (in the vulgar tongue) the dog.

Amargith is my Craft name. I got it originally from a story where the Empress of the ancestors of the vikings was called that name. She was an inspiration, both as a woman and as a leader. It just clicked.

As for the avatar, it's the picture of a Rusalka, a Slavic water spirit. She seems sweet and innocent, but actually can be quite lethal..
I can really admire strong confident women who aren't afraid of expressing their femininity and use their female gifts as a talent, rather than consider it a burden, yet can handle themselves perfectly fine. And I doubt I still have to tell you guys that I love nature

Meh. Male or female, I much prefer you in the masculine role.

Not for me you don't. Sorry 'bout that. But truth is attractive. . .

Don't make yourself look foolish, Blue.

I based my name "Kuranes" on a character by a writer named "H.P. Lovecraft". He appears first in a short story named "Celephais", where he is a dreamer in conflict with those around him. Celephais by H. P. Lovecraft

Later he appears briefly in a longer work
The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath by H. P. Lovecraft

Both are fantasy stories that pre-date Tolkien, and even came before Science Fiction was separate from Fantasy.

I change my avatars frequently and so there's no point in me explaining one of them, unless someone actually asks me about an artist or whatever. Feel free to do if so moved.

I'd forgotten the names of the other characters... "Garm." Heh. Thanks for reminding me! It's been at least 15 years since I read that book. I'm going to have to hunt it down again.
