On the flip side.. that can be nice sometimes. I have a leather sofa in a conservatory (like a summer house). When it's just a bit warm.. the sofa is hotter so it means it's nice and warm. When it's hot.. well.. I also have a basket weave style sofa that stays cool

I obsess about leather furniture staying nice, since it's so expensive and shiny. The whole point of that sort of furniture is to be comfy and relaxed, and I can't relax if I'm obsessing about it.

I like cloth better because of that. And also because cloth is plushier

This is true but cranking the AC works wonders. I love our leather sofas. We had fabric and they were a PITA to keep clean especially with young children. Now the only think I worry about is scratching the leather. We have one small nick and I am constantly telling the kids to SIT on the couch, not wallow on it. :rolleyes2:

I would prefer leather over cloth because of dust mites.

*sniggers at the Pees decision making process* Get the darn couch already!

Personally I'm not a fan of sticking to my couch in summer so leathers out, prefer microfiber.

Yuk. Shiny, slippery, thigh-and-bum-sweaty, plastic-looking leather.

Again, air conditioning. As for pleather sofas, I'd probably steer clear of those.

Fabric, all the way. It's soft and noiseless.

Thanks for the great input! I think I'm beginning to steer more towards fabric, simply for practical purposes. I agree fully with the positives of leather, and that AC would do alot to keep the negatives at bay. In fact, I think I personally prefer leather more. BUT, if I got leather I would have to go all the way and get a quality leather couch. None of this pleather, or 40% leather stuff. Full leather couches are expensive, and I have no way of knowing if it will translate when I move out of the apartment. I'd hate to spend $2,000-$4,500 only to have to get rid of it when I get a house or move.

So YAY! One decision down. Perhaps I can get some opinions on my next issue:

Sofa plus loveseat OR Sectional sofa.

Okay, I'm INFP. So it's not like I'm going to have a millions friends over all the time. However, I can be social, so when I do have people over I want a place that is welcoming and can fit them comfortably.

Here is the layout of my apartment:

Do you think the layout in the above is the best way to go? Any thoughts?
