Did you not read my post?

And on that note, I can't think of a single reason to visit Virginia unless I wanted a history lesson.

So your suggestion is to go stare at some NASA buildings? Do they give tours?

I don't think your museum district can beat where I live.

Actually I will help out our Texan friends here:

Best Cities to Live, Work and Play - Kiplinger.com

Houston beat out Raleigh by 1...doh.

Houston is alright, but I don't think I would like it as much as there is more environmental variety where I live in NC within 2 hours, and the weather is a tad nicer.

I'll bite at your (lame) attempt to provoke me.

Yes, they do have tours. You would also come here for medical and cancer treatment. We often host major conventions and sometimes major sports events. I didn't even get into the colleges, of which we have many prestigious ones. We have a beach as well. Why would you go visit any major city? What is your point?

Also let me add that our prices for gasoline are considerably lower than most other places in the city, which is certainly an advantage for living here beside the healthy local economy and largely growing work force.

Not really. You can visit far earlier and receive it here as well.

Contrary to popular belief, REAL Texas chili has no beans.

    Its just chili con carne.

To see the Houston Ship Channel, The San Jacinto Monument, Galveston, The Houston Museum of Fine Arts (which is one of the best in the country), The Holocaust Museum, The Houston Museum of Natural Science, The Printing Press Museum, The Menil, basically the entire Museum district.

Also to see The Astrodome, The Texans (I wouldn't, but to each his own), The Houston Rockets, The Houston Astros, The Houston Aeros, The Battleship Texas, and the Theatre District.

All of these things are in the Houston area.

As a history major, even I as a fellow Texan can't really support that argument.

Thats right, I totally forgot NASA.

Yes they give tours, and then there is Space Center Houston, which gives the entire history of the space race.

    Its fuckin awesome.

Not to mention the Bass Pro Shops in Katy and Pearland as well. You could spend all day there!!!!!!!!

And like I said, Houston's Museum District is one of the best in the country.

And you can say what you want about Houston. Honestly, its not my favorite city either.

But you better learn to like it. Houston is one of the country's larges melting pots. Statistics show that the entire country will resemble Houston by the year 2050.

Speaking from my own interests, there is nothing about Virginia that makes me want to visit. There's lots of places in the US I'd like to visit but Virginia just isn't one of them. As an anthropology major, I still don't want to visit it. I might even be going there soon, given that I'm probably going to have to go to West Virginia soon (which apparently is supposed to be even worse).

This is true, I'm not trying to build Houston up as a tourism hot-spot either; I'm simply answering his provoking questions.

Quite frankly I can't blame the average US citizen for not wanting to go visit Houston one day, but it is ignorant not to recognize how important the city is for its country and state.
