It's called soda. If you call it anything else, you don't deserve to drink it.

Well, if I recall the civilized regions near the coasts call it soda, with the exception of the Seattle area. The unwashed hog farmers of the Flyover generally call it pop, and people near the Coca-Cola HQ tend to refer to all soft drinks as Coke as an homage to their dark syrupy god's soft drink hegemony.

I didn't think the reason being why everyone in memphis growing up called all of it coke. I figured they just did, but that makes sense. I also didn't know we had a coke bottling factory their either.

of course I use coke, pop, and soda interchangeably depending on my mood.

my mom's side of the family calls it pop (she's from Western PA) my dad I believe calls it pop as well (Central KY) but might have called it something else before meeting my mom, where I grew up everyone around me called it coke, and I don't know how soda came to be part of my vocab.

I refer to all forms of Cola as "Coke". Everything else, I call it what it is, but all those words sound really cheesy and American (which I guess they are). I cringe whenever I hear someone say Soda in a film. I don't think people in the UK use the term (mostly 'soft drink'?). But I wouldn't know; I don't drink the stuff (doesn't like fizzy, will put up with it for cider).

-How beautiful, this pale Endymion hour.
    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

Well the poll is heavily US influenced, I didn't really look up anything. Which is why other is an option.

Sorry if I sounded angry. It's a lifestyle thing. Aforementioned anger wasn't directed towards your lovely self (or country).

no I was just explaining why it only had those options. I just don't feel comfortable about saying things about other countries and cultures I've only visited once or twice.
