Whoa. The new VB version changed the layout of the polls.

Anyway, my parent's call it "pop" and I call it "soda." Yes, I hate them that much.

I think it's funny how "pop" is considered unsophisticated even though it was coined by a British Poet Laureate. Whereas "soda" is just short for "soda-water". OOH! Classy!

I have always called it "soda". "Pop" sounds kind of rural to me, and "Coke" sounds like it would be really confusing. Anyone who's fascinated by this might be interested in this map I found a few years ago. Apparently this was the subject of some academic research.

I like 'pop' a hell of a lot more than 'coke'. I usually just call the stuff soda, though.

I'm from the South, and call everything a Coke unless I need to specifically refer to it by its real name to avoid confusion. But if I'm inviting a friend to go get a snack, I'll say, "Hey, you wanna go get a Coke?"

Both "pop" and "soda" have always made me cringe a little bit. They just seem so gee-whiz 1950s to me.

I have a lot of relatives in the south, and when they call everything 'coke', they sound so...dumb.

"Soda" for me. "Pop" sounds kinda dumb. And using "coke" for everything is inexplicable to me. Do people say it even for root beer or orange soda or Mountain Dew, or is it just cola? I can't imagine asking for a "coke"s if it's clearly a Pepsi product.

I'm not from the south, but for some reason a lot of people in the Kansas City area call it "coke" too.

St. Louis people like to pretend they're from the East Coast so they call it "soda".

Because Kansas City is a giant shit hole.

Saint Louis is much more cosmopolitan than Kansas City can ever hope to be.
