Well, people willing to try weed are far more likely to be tempted to try something stronger, while people who don't want to smoke weed would be less likely to try other stuff, so -tries to think of the words I learnt in science- there is a correlation (is that right?) but one does not cause the other all the time.

I think temperament plays a big factor in it. For me and my SP brethren, the answer is likely yes, but for NT peeps for instance, probably not as they could more easily separate different drugs into categories. My kind of people are much more likely to get bored with one drug and seek the greater high, or at least a different high. It's the biggest reason that I'm glad I never got into drugs or alcohol, because I would have likely been a hard core addict if I did.
