    Default Desert Island Discs

An old cliche as old as music magazines: desert island disc lists. you get to choose 10 albums you'd want if you were stranded on a desert island. assuming you have electricity and a device to play your albums, but that's overthinking it. these are the albums you're least likely to get tired of. think hard, you'll be listening to these same 10 albums and no others for the rest of your life or until you're rescued or escape on a makeshift raft with your bloodstained volleyball friend.

edit: Oh, and I don't think it's breaking the rules to include double albums, best of/greatest hits, or bootleg albums.
    I'll start:

    10. Man or Astro-Man? - Destroy All Astromen

    I hope bootlegs count because...
    9. Neil Young - Chrome Dreams

    8. Brian Eno - Another Green World

    7. John Barry - Themeology (Best Of)

    6. Cal Tjader - Soul Sauce

    5. The Velvet Underground (third album)

    4. Portishead - Third

    3. Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted

    2. Scott Walker - Scott 4

it was really hard to choose between no. 9 and no. 7...
    1. Beethoven - Symphony No. 9

Tough, but fun. I almost did a list of just Bob Dylan, because he's the only artist I truly NEVER get sick of and can listen to exclusively for months at a time (on a sidenote, I had forgotten how great that Camera Obscura album was, it's been a while).

    10. Anais Mitchell, Hadestown

    9. Electric Lady, Janelle Monae

    8. The Zombies, Odessey and Oracle

    7. Supertramp, Crime of the Century

    6. Regina Spektor, Soviet Kitsch

    5. Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, The Swimming Hour

    4. Frank Sinatra, Wee Small Hours

    3. The Beatles, Live at the BBC

    2. Joni Mitchell, Blue

I have to cheat a little with Bob and pick a compilation album:

    1. Bob Dylan, Biograph

Me too, the versions from Planet Waves are good and all, but I like bare bones Bob. I don't have it on Vinyl (though I'd love to acquire it in Vinyl!). Biograph was actually my Bob Dylan gateway drug. I was rummaging through my dad's cassettes when I was quite young, and found this. To that point, I only knew Bob Dylan as that singer who couldn't sing (my mom used to always complain about him). My dad wasn't much of a Bob fan either though, because I seem to recall he had taped over one of the three cassettes with Phil Collins
