    Yes.

But I wasn't necessarily thinking about the bubble gum pop (which I admit I was also a bit of a sucker for). I was thinking: Alanis Morrissette, Nirvana, Goo Goo Dolls, Alice in Chains, The Fugees, No Doubt, Pearl Jam, Mariah Carey, Radiohead, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, TLC, Smashing Pumpkins, Collective Soul, Green Day, Garbage, Whitney Houston, Live, The Cranberries, Destiny's Child etc etc etc

I could go on and on.

Oh. I don't listen to much of that stuff either.

I love News Radio so much.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

I don't know. We don't really have anything exciting significant happen here like wars and stuff.

We had a political reform and our first female Prime Minister. I remember nuclear testing in Moruroa and hating the French being a big deal. We had a couple of volcanic eruptions. We won the America's Cup and lost 3 Rugby World Cups.

That's about all I can think of.

    Rodney King
    O.J. Simpson
    Newt Gingrich
    North Hollywood shootout
    Oklahoma City bombing
    Bill Clinton's Somalia intervention
A bunch of other military interventions
    Bill Clinton's sex life
    Northridge earthquake
The mega mergers that left us with 5 really big American class I railroads (well, 4 big ones + Kansas City Southern)
    Governor Pete Wilson
    Dot-com boom

I strongly disagree with this. Many people seem to believe this, but that belief is what's holding them back from trying new things.

But it is true that it's impossible to create something out of nothing: pieces of stuff that already existed are necessary to build. That's always been true. A creator can put in enough heart to make their work their own (we call that original), or laze on it and make something that leans on the personalities of the progenitors of their materials (we call that unoriginal).
