Default If you're male, why is your avatar pic female (and/or vice versa)?

    It's confusing.

If you're black, why is your avatar picture white?

If you're poor and ordinary, why is it beautiful and glamourous?

Come to think of it, if you're human, why is it an inanimate object, animal, or abstract design?

    Confusing indeed.

Good thing no women here use male avs, or I'd get REALLY confused.

EDIT: Oh wait. You said that.
Never mind. <<clueless scatterbrained INP alert>>

Because it's less deceptive than our makeup-caked faces?

I have used several. I use them because I like them. I used the one below for awhile simply because he is my usernamesake (French scientist Gaspard-Gustave Coriolis). Sometimes I extract a small portion of a larger image, focusing on a specific object or detail, like the avatar I have now. I made a deliberate effort recently to find some female ones I like, but could not. Perhaps eventually.

Why is that? It it so important to know the gender of the person you are conversing with, other than for choosing correct pronouns?

Well, I do consider myself rather intelligent, and I have all the customary anatomical parts, so I don't see how I can object.

    They are deceptive people, beware.

That's not a value judgement, mind you.

Did my playful sarcasm fail to come through in that post, or are you just being generous with explaining your situation?
