We have numbers followed by the area code.

Most North American jurisdictions (U.S. states, Canadian provinces) have six or seven characters per plate. Some states might have plates where the numbers or letters correspond to the county that the car is registered in, but most of them have no intrinsic meaning.

I saw a Corvette today, licence plate "WA2SLOW". Coincidentally the driver, a corpulent man north of 50 years of age, was driving 10 km/h under the speed limit.

BMT214A is the licence plate of James Bond's Aston Martin DB5. This person I saw got a vanity plate that read the same.

I suppose, but it would have been cooler if it was an Aston Martin instead of a Dodge station wagon.

Another plate I saw recently was on a Toyota Venza parked next to a church a few blocks from my office, but I didn't want to include it in this thread because I thought it was very clever: "PREACHA".
