Most on point assessment of the thread. Seconded and bravo, Allie.
And so long as you haven’t experienced this: to die and so to grow,
you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth

    On the plus side:
You're warm and friendly and honest about yourself. You are deeply introspective and have good insight on things.

    On the minus side:
Sometimes you come across as rather insecure about yourself.

For some reason while reading this I was reminded of my dad's face when he saw my grades after college. He looked so...defeated, he must have had something riding on me that I couldn't see or understand.

All I remember him saying was "....hmmm I thought they might be a bit better" then he left the room. Made me cold inside for some reason.

Never seen him look so old.

Your insights are stuff that it's hard to see from the inside of a problem.

You're someone who asks questions, and like many such people, you sound like you've been long unappreciated. It sounds like you've taken the dismissal to heart.
I meant to reply to this before, now I've got a bit of time before work, (yet again), thanks for your compliments.

I will comment on the last paragraph that I think you may be right. As a child I tended to observe and make comments on what I observed and very often I was chastised for it, as if people did not want to think or believe that something could be indicative of a more deep-rooted problem surrounding a subject.

I learnt then to keep such thoughts to myself unless I could find someone who I thought might be interested. It's funny really because I have cultivated a persona around my friends that runs counter to how I actually think inside. In that to them I am jovial, rarely serious, joke often and appear to avoid depth.

'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.
