Default A Tribute to the Word Almost

    Almost.

What a spectacular word. No other word so deftly implies a sense of insincerity and melodrama.

    He almost drownded me!
    - My 12 year old cousin to her parents, after I dunked her in the pool when we were kids.

Brandon: God, look what you fucking did Gavin, you fucking almost erased the entire track, please fuckin....

Gavin: Sorry, I fucked up man. I was just sitting here trying to film.

    Mike: Did he erase it?

    Brandon: No, he...very...well...could have
    -Incubus, "Calgone"

Fox News, I demand an apology. I demand you play the entire clip, in which I almost break into tears, because I care about these people that suffer; because I know that if I were in their position, I would want help.
    - Some random emo youtuber.

    You almost got us killed!
    - Backseat drivers

I almost kicked his ass right then and there.
    - "Intimidating" people

Can anyone think of any more funny instances when "almost" has been used?

Hah these are fun. It's a bit late and I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but that youtube video...i'm just...in shock I suppose.

It's been a while since ive seen such a display of faux sentimentality and sincerity...or maybe it is intended legitimately, but it doesn't come across that way. It induces vomiting....
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.
    - A.A. Milne.
