There are countless better things to do with such money. So, that's a no.

If I can sell it for more to some douche then use the profit for a much better cause, yes.

Possibly, but I wouldn't spend more than 5% of my patrimony on it.

    That's basically a 'no', I guess.

My first thought was... the cost of a Ferrari put into a retirement account now would let me retire how many years earlier?

    So... no way.

Even if it weren't a matter of unnecessarily sacrificing years of my life to working, I still doubt I'd do it. I'd travel, etc. instead.

Where's "NFP - No. I'm a little materialistic, but I think a Ferrari would be one of the last things I would spend that kind of money on."?

The Ferrari isn't my dream car, but I'd be a liar if I didn't admit to liking fast cars.

So, my complete answer to the Ferrari question is dependent upon the answer 'yes' to three more ifs: if we could reasonably afford it, if it wouldn't compromise our retirement and if it was a dream car for my husband, then yes, yes I would buy it.

    Probably a used one though.

I like fancy stuff as much as the next person, but I'm not really into cars. And if I was I'd be more likely to want something smooth and high tech than fast and flashy. I bet you couldn't go twenty miles an hour over the speed limit in a car like that without having a cop on your rear. You can get by with a lot more if you keep a low profile.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
