You're the only other person so far in the thread besides me who strongly values ambiance/theme/decor.
And me! I feel like the atmosphere is half the point of eating out. The visual pleasure adds to the pleasure of the food.
I like any good sushi place, especially Nama (although they are on the expensive side, so I usually go to the authentic small restaurant at which I work). I also like Olive Garden and Bravo. I really liked Cozymel's Mexican Grill while I was working there (until it closed). They had the best Mexican food I've had.

Native Foods. It's my new favorite restaurant. It's 100% vegan and plant-based but made of pure awesome. Their Reuben actually tastes like a Reuben, they make all of their foods (including "fake meats" and salad dressings in-house, their Ranch and Russian dressings do not taste vegan) and they have LAVENDER LEMONADE.
Their desserts are made without processed sugar and their chk'n nuggets actually taste like the best all-white meat chk'n nuggets...without the meat.
Their polenta bites are to die for.
I actually think I could go 99% vegan if I ate at Native Foods every day.
There's still 1% of me that would have to go for sushi every once and a while.

Um, well, my most favourite restaurants are local diners that are unique in themselves. I also love Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, T.G.I. Friday's, and especially Friendly's. I really like Subway and Sonic, too. And for dessert, Cold Stone Creamery and Carvel are where it's at.
