Probably more female singers, not really alternative but not really pop either. Like maybe Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, etc.

I can picture you having those days where you listen to songs that people constantly gripe about hating, like Friday or Justin Bieber, particularly days when it's lightly raining outside. You sit in a chair, quietly thinking about life while these guilty pleasure (they're not really a pleasure but I guess one man's trash is another's treasure) play very softly, almost inaudible in the background.

But the next day, you feel as if you've failed yourself, so you crank up some death metal or classic rock and blare it as loud as you can while sitting in your driveway dramatically revving an even louder motorcycle.

    Grunge.
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.

[Trump's] rhetoric is not an abuse of power. In the same way that it's also not against the law to do a backflip off of the roof of your house onto your concrete driveway. It's just mind-numbingly stupid and, to say the least, counterproductive. - Bush did 9-11
