“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Thanks Ivy! That is a good picture cafe. My kids are being super sweet today and picked me out gifts little gifts. My husband made me "eggs" it's the thought that counts right ? We are getting ready to go on a hike as it is a beautiful day. I hope you all have a great mothers day!! (Ivys right call your mom if you can!! )

    Very compelling pics, btw, Ivy.

Unless she means he actually did make eggs, hen-like - I'm not sure how the science would work, but that really would be dedication.

This thread scarred the crap out of me for a few moments, until I remembered that we've already had Mother's day over here. Damn you Ivy!

It's better than last year!! He made "breakfast burritos" last year which included an entire package of taco seasoning mix yum-yum! It was very hard to smile sweetly & say "thanks honey these are great !"

Yes, I don't think he is that dedicated .

The hiking trip went well though. It was 5 I'm-really-out-of-shape miles that were supposedly of "moderate (my ass)difficulty with several steep inclines".

Here is what my normally hyper kiddos looked like when we were done:

(sorry for being selfish and making this all about me, but it's the fluff zone...it's almost BBQ time, hope it is going well for you all too!)
