Hmmm... I would enact my favorite plays in digital form. Like The Crucible. Initiate witch hunts and the like. This would entertain me for awhile.

You can be a muppet sometimes, but I really like you. You're far away from being a bad person, marms. No need to be scared at all. Besides, it's not like a quirky little outcast radical like me will ever get to be a mod anyway.

Edit: it's just that i've been here every day for over four years. I read way more than I ever post, and I get strong urges to just click some bad people away to spare myself and others the suffering.

Supreme mod or any mod job sucks. There are always whiners who benefit from the work you do but never say thank you, instead just run around criticising it.

Cheers to the existing and past mod teams!

I havent read the thread but I'd suspect that discussion of modding is probably the same as any other discussion of authority, instead of a balanced or equilibrium position emerging there's inclined to be extremes of either authoritarianism or neglect.

People who'd be banning everyone, or who imagine they'd be able to do so much more than what they could already if they just had the proper status or functions, others who'd be the archetypical authority figure who doesnt actually believe in authority. There's problems with each approach, ultimately the both make decent discussions impossible, the first by creating a closed group of defensive individuals, no way of getting fresh participation, the second by allowing the asshats to run amok and deter participation too.

Personally I think the second is a bigger problem and presently more widespread, more widespread than forums or modding, if legitimate authorities can or wont behave as such because they're too conflicted or whatever its an open invitation to attack, which means they can and are either subverted by authoritarianism or people think authoritarianism is needed to prevent the subversion.

I would ban Ivy without explanation, just to see the outrage that would ensue. Then I would reinstate Ivy and ban everyone who criticized my decision...as a demonstration of power.

I wouldn't do anything. I'll just let the forum go whackjob out of control and observe from the sidelines..
