It's not really "in style" amongst people who aren't idiots. But it's happening. It's not as bad in Philadelphia, but the Jersey Shore, some parts of Long Island, etc. It's awful in places. I simply do not understand it.
Yup, it seems about 80% of Jersey either is or pretends to be Italian. (Then again, I know of at least 5 people in my school who's families have/had ties to the mafia).
Back on topic:
A big turn-off for me is lack of intelligence. Not lack of knowledge, but intelligence.
