"Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong. West Virginia, Mountain Mama, take me home, country road." What I relate to is the wish for a sense of belonging, home, freedom, comfort and security, rather than the desire to see physical landscapes and regions. I desire a place of happiness, welcome, belonging, freedom, hope, and warmth. "The radio reminds me of a place far away." That place of joy is a land that I struggle to get to. I'm halfway there, but in my daily life I've never been completely there. Sometimes I've been so far away I could barely fathom the impression of it from my memory. Maybe I will only see it in full technicolor in heaven. Maybe there is no heaven. Maybe I'll never see it vividly. Maybe... this is as good as it gets. "Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong. West Virginia, Mountain Mama, take me home, country road. Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty taste of moonshot, teardrop in my eye."

West Virginia, Mountain Mama, take me home...
    They're running just like you
    For you, and I, wooo
So people, people, need some good ol' love

Baby, what's that confused look in your eyes?
What I'm trying to say is that
    I burn down buildings

    You call the cops

    They call it class war,
    I call it co-conspirators.

    You left me all alone.

You watched in awe at the red,
White, and blue on the fourth of july.
    While those fireworks were exploding,
    I was burning that fucker
And stringing my black flag high,
    Eating the peanuts
That the parties have tossed you
In the back seat of your father's new Ford.
    You believe in the ballot,
    Believe in reform.
You have faith in the elephant and jackass,
    And to you, solidarity's a four-letter word.
    We're all hypocrites,
    But you're a patriot.
You thought I was only joking
    When I screamed "Kill Whitey!"
At the top of my lungs
At the cops in their cars
And the men in their suits.
No, I won't take your hand
    And marry the State.

^ I know that song- wasn't it on one of the Rock Against Bush CDs?

Probably. The problem is Against Me! completely sold out. I feel so conflicted listening to them. Their old stuff is all "Go DIY! Down with Corporate America!" but they just signed with a major record label. I wanna say they are using this record label to get their same message to more people, as if they're using the record label for their own agenda, and screwing the label in the process, but I think Against Me! is really the one that's selling out and getting screwing their values in the signing.
