In all honesty, I don't know how I feel about this picture.
This kid must be what, four or five????
I'm liberal and all, but this is just a bit too disturbing for my taste, shouldn't that be a bright green water gun in his hand or something?
can't quite tell the race of the child, but in reality, child soldiers are very much a part of the weaponry in the world. In global military practice, they are regarded as expendable. And they are the best killers, because they can be trained to be machines. For them, killing becomes a game, it becomes fun.
They train them from the ages of about 5, by 13, they are experienced killers who talk about the notches in their gun and laugh, while desiring candy. The Khmer Rouge, Taleban, in Somalia, LTTE of Sri Lanka, these and more, all use child soldiers.
it is only in the developed parts of the world that 16-18 yrs old is required as a minimum age. By then though, humanity would have developed. And if what one wants is a killer, then, you need to get them as children.
Note: the above does not represent my own personal views. I'm against child soldiers. But in military practice, especially guerilla tactics, this is one of the hidden weapons they use. Especially if the opposition is american/british: because in armed combat, in the moment that the American hesitates to kill the child, the child would have shot him dead.
You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
They called me the hyacinth girl.
Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.
