We call it pop here, and I think my favorite is RC, although what I usually drink when I drink pop is diet caffeine free Pepsi. I only drink diet soda now and I'm doing an experiment where I'm not consuming any caffeine. That's only been going on a week, though. However, I quite like being without caffeine and since pop tastes the same without it, I don't see why I'd go back.

I like Vitamin water. Oh but that's not a soft drink, you say? Read the label dear, it's basically sugar water. Lots of those drinks are soft drinks.

I like fruity, cute Asian soft drinks with nonsensical English names. Some are really, really sweet though. Calpis is a popular one. Esp. strawberry flavor. I also like this Korean one made from Barley. I think I know what ginger beer Whatever speaks of, I know I've had it at the Jamaican take out and it is WAYYYYY too gingery. Makes me cough.

Has anyone tried the new rainbow labeled multi-vitamin diet coke/pepsi? That stuff slays me. And it's what I grab when I want to rot my teeth.

    I love all novelty/foreign sodas!!!

They're horribly expensive, (sorry 2 to 3 bucks for one soda is expensive) but sometimes it's nice to indulge one's self with a fruity exotic beverage.

    I can dig it!!!

I visited the Coke headquarters in Atlanta once, and at the end of the tour they have a giant soda fountain with every Coke brand drink sold around the world. It was really fun to taste the sodas people drink in other parts of the world, although I can't recommend the grapefruit. Yeeech. Lychee was good though.

And with all the soda/pop/coke discussion, I thought it would be fun to show this:

That's funny. I grew up calling all soda 'coke'. Probably because that's what I really wanted to drink. For some reason my parents and all the other Asian immigrant kids' parents just wanted to drink Sprite. Or Seven Up. Or Mountain Dew. Basically anything clear. I'd get all excited when my parents said they'd buy soft drinks -- and then present us with the clear stuff. That's not soda!!! That's seltzer water with fake lemon. That doesn't fool me or any other sweet-toothed child.

On another note -- holy!!! I'm connected to the Texan Brotherhood this way??

Jeez, now I'm glad I call it soda. I'll even start calling it 'pop'. The first time I heard someone IRL say that was my friend who grew up in Maine...apparently.

I concur with Capt'n! And it helps living in NorCal or SoCal epicenters to get those fun novelty drinks. I like the gelatinous cubes you can find at the bottom of some. Only Asian people can make agar so cute and appealing to the palate. :nods: My favorite 'soft drinks' in the states are actually Yeo's soymilk and real coconut juice. Especially with bits of real coconut to chew on. There's a hippie brand with electrolytes that my local Bikram yoga studio sold that was good too.

When I visit 'the motherland' I try banana or strawberry milk. And beauty soft drinks loaded with fiber, collagen, vitamin e, olio (don't even know what that is) and anything else that's good for what ails ya! And all kinds of bottled teas. I don't think Snapple would ever take off in east asia.

That's very cool. I've never been, but my Husband worked on site there a few years ago and was well impressed.
