Sorry, Kiddo, I didn't realize what you meant until reading your example. Experience with that type tells me they won't get it... its a waste of energy trying with them. But, there is some value... it does help to deepen your own understanding of the subject or where you stand. But, remember, it takes two to argue so both are benefiting in some way if you do see the benefit.

I've noticed that idiots often do this. They mistakenly see an opening for a favourite opinion of theirs (which has probably produced enjoyable results in past airings) and they shoehorn it in. And take their time doing so. I would rant about this some more, but that would become ironic.

(theirs or theirs'? who the hell thought up the genitive case?)

Agree completely upon that. Points to you, sir.

    I love arguing because
    1. It sharpens the edges of the reasoning sword.
    2. It is very fun to make people angry, especially if they're wrong. Logically, morally or whatnot.
    3. And again, fuck yeah, it's awesome and fun to piss people off

Maybe you just want to educate them and it pisses you off when they're too stupid to listen to reason.

    Exceptionally well stated point.

I agree with you and Seanan on this, but when you are arguing with idiots, its kind of like trying to sharpen the edges of reason with mud. You want worthy opponents, that make you question your own ideas, not people who make you rue the day you were born because you have to listen to their utter stupidity.

I agree. But when it becomes clear that I will never be able to convince them, then I should be able to move on, yet I continue anyways.

Fair point. Let's try one of the "intelligent" points the person who currently has me steamed has made in the past.

"Poor people are just people who are too lazy to work and who want to mooch and leech off the backs of hard working people."

He's got a point. Or we could put a hindu spin on it and say "Poor people are just people who were too lazy to work and who wanted to mooch and leech off the backs of hard working people in a former life."

    Kidding.

You are so lucky that you put that kidding there because I was about to show you what evil Kiddo looks like.
