I have kids in the house, so I don't own any guns. Guns kinda freak me out anyway and I don't think I'd own one unless my job required me to, directly or indirectly.
I have more of a thing for knives. They are simple, sexy, can be beautiful, and seem to me to be a very intimate way to kill someone. I'm not macho enough to use one for self-defense or murder, for that matter, but I've seen a few that I would love to own. Probably a post-kid hobby, though.
For security, I have dogs who bark if anyone (or anything) comes near the house (or walks down the sidewalk, etc) and phones.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.” ~ John Rogers
I love hunting. The thing about not having guns or weapons lying around is just some new sissy thing going on.
And your school shootings in the USA, it's not because of weapon availability, it's because your society is fucked up
Anyway. It's stupid to be afraid of guns. Be afraid of people. CARS are dangerous, and wait... FERTELIZER is fucking dangerous too, because any dumb kid can read on the über DANGEROUS INTERNET and learn how to make dangerous BOMBS. Anyway.
Guns are fun.
Mightier than the tread of marching armies is the power of an idea whose time has come
