Default Why did Dick Dastardly never win Wacky Races?

He clearly had the better car, it was the only one that was rocket powered. Not like the cavemen who just hit theirs with their clubs or the Anthill Mob who stuck their feet through the bottom of their car like the Flintstones.

His speed was also evident from the fact that he got in front of everyone to set all those stupid traps, and then he would wait around for everyone to turn up. Why didn't he just gun it?

I'm almost coming to the conslusion he was just some kind of idiot that never took the races seriously enough.

Any thoughts on this subject would be welcomed as it is keeping me awake at night.
Why do we always come here?

    I guess we'll never know.

He didn't want to just win, he wanted to humiliate & hurt the others in the process. His need to cause pain and suffering in others and his desire to witness their struggles is why he stuck around. It's also what came back to bite him in the ass, it's more of a Karma lesson with him really.

I don't want it, I just need it, to breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive.

Never take life to seriously.. No one gets out alive in the end anyway.

It's the same as the reason why they never got off of Gilligan's Island even though the professor thought up a new way every episode.

Dick Dastardly suffers from the same fatal flaw as countless James Bond villains. Vanity. It's not enough for him to win, he has to give it a sense of style and turn it into performance art. Consequently, he always loses. I'm sure his urge to do everything bigger and better is at least partly driven by Muttley's constant patronizing snickers.

I think that the biggest rival for the dastardly bastard Dastardly, would have been that haunted house car with the dragon in the roof and that scientist guy who could turn his car into anything.

And does anyone think that they were running out of characters when they made up Rufus Roughcut? You know, that douchebag lumberjack with the beaver.

Call me cynical but I think using circular saws as wheels is just ridiculous, it would give him no advantage. They'd be ruined after every quarter mile.
