    Default There Will Be Milkshakes

    I just found this video making fun of the "Milkshake Scene" in There Will Be Blood. I can't stop laughing.

    It's a reference to "receiving the blood of Christ" which I guess has something to do with baptism (I'm not Christian so I have no idea, but it seemed to be that way in the movie). And there is not a lot of blood, but the final scene of the movie is the most sadistically funny/evil/amazing scene in any movie.

    Hmmm, I took the title to mean something different. I saw the movie as a classic story of character determining fate...and the character of Plainview dictated that inevitably someone would come between him and what he wanted, and well...there would be blood. His avarice for things that didn't belong to him led to violence. I suppose there could be some kind of family ties or religious meaning to "blood" but it's kind of a stretch for me.

    It's really funny when the music first picks up and the cardigan man is doing that weird hand-near-head waving motion, and the guy on the floor goes down and then does that rewound wiggly serpentine thing. That is funny. Then it gets boring. I've never seen the movie, but the first twenty five seconds were amusing.

    I always saw it as a reference to the constant struggle between Eli and Daniel, specifically the two times during which one forces the other to bathe in blood (one being literal and the other symbolic). Regardless, it's a great movie.

    @Mempy
    It may lose some of it's humor if you haven't seen the movie. I wouldn't know. I've seen it several times and have been obsessing over it every since.

    haha! I've really got to see this movie because imo DDL is one of the greatest actors of all time. We were watching the Brit awards Sunday night and I really couldn't get over how incredibly fit and well he looks! So glad he won best actor.

    I think Daniel Day-Lewis is an INTP.

    Possibly. Definitely P. I don't think he even washed his hair for the Brits. He really gets into his character by becoming the character. Impressive.
