Never saw it but chances are that if it's a "III" and I've never heard of the "I" then it's horrendous.
But sir, your opinion is wrong.

Poltergeist II was probably the creepiest because of one character.

    You've never heard of Poltergeist?

    Poltergeist II and Poltergeist III.

There are also rumors of rebooting the franchise, as well.

Actually, it originally got an R rating (there was no PG-13 at the time), but Steven Spielberg (producer and uncredited director alongside Tobe Hooper, director of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre) manipulated the MPAA back in those days and successfully got a PG rating. (PG-13 didn't come along until after Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.)

And it also deserved to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects that year. They were just so amazing at the time. Unfortunately it lost to E.T., which had okay effects at the time, but nothing deserving of an Oscar.

It is actually quite gory for a PG-rated movie. Certain sequences probably more gory than most PG-13 movies today.

Now the second one is really creepy because of one of the characters.

I will look into this movie...

If it's bad...do you remember that trap you described?

I will also throw my hat in for Poltergeist as a good movie that need not cause embarassment. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. PG doesn't mean something isn't scary, it just means it's not a snuff film like most of what passes for "horror" in the last ten years.

I won't vouch for II or III though. They blow.

The end was pitifully thrown together but oh well.
I couldn't believe there was a Meg Ryan movie I hadn't seen! Addicted to Love But I looked it up, and it's rated R, so that's why. I checked on it over at kids-in-mind.com and it didn't seem too bad. I'm curious to see it, but I wouldn't watch it with my kids in the room.
I can't imagine why it's rated R and there is a lassie reference that's oddly thrown in at the end so how bad can it be?

The second one had some good parts in it, and the third one was a so-bad-it's-good kind of deal.

It must be because of the sexual content.
