Sauvignon Blanc atm. A superior wine for getting drunk on, since reds tend to be too intense. Aside from Merlot perhaps, but I'd rather have my balls kicked by a horse that's just crossed a field of broken glass and red-hot nails than drink that.

    Maybe not.

    Maybe not.
Oh man, so I take it you fancy yourself a connoisseur, or did you just jump on the Merlot-sucks bandwagon after watching the movie Sideways?

I was JUST thinking about that!

So do you think the dude actually was able to work it out with her in the end?

Nope. Just know what I like.

Haven't seen it, but if it hates on Merlot then I may have to. Nah, an American friend introduced me to it and it was hate at first taste. Somewhere between a red and white, with the virtues of neither. Worst of both worlds.

Hmm I'd like to say yes, but probably no, I really did love Virginia Madson's (sp?) character in that movie!!!

Oh my, that monologue she gave about why she became interested in wine, how it's alive, how the it is essentially a time-capsule containing the imprints of the people, space, i.e. earth, i.e. particular vineyard, and time in which it was grown and bottled.

Whenever I watch that movie I am absolutely mesmerized by that scene.

You remind me of someone really cool, namely, myself!!

Oddly enough, merlot is the primary grape for the great Right Bank Bordeaux reds. Unfortunately, they don't make very many good merlots in North America. Try a Northern California pinot noir or a Cotes du Rhone red sometime. There are some nice reds coming out of Argentina and Chile for like $10-15, too.
Who wants to try a bottle of merc's "Extroversion Olive Oil?"

When it's made by someone who knows what they are doing, it is tremendous. Love the perfume-y aroma, inky color, tart cherry flavor. . .
