You will make friends though! Everyone is really looking to make friends at this point. Several of the friends I made at the beginning of my freshman year (I am guessing you are a freshman) have become lifetime friends.
This is not to say that they'll replace the old ones, just that you'll eventually not feel so lonely anymore.
I definitely cried when my parents said goodbye to me. It was really awkward actually, because I had to go get a physical examination at the athletic trainer's immediately after (for sports), so it was in front of my whole team and the whole football team and all the athletic training staff... yeah pretty special.
Your kisses, sweeter than honey. But guess what, so is my money.
I remember thinking I was the only person who cried in the shower because I was so lonely at college, until I barged into one of my most social, outgoing hall mate's rooms to ask about homework and found her curled up on her bed all swollen eyed. Turns out she was totally homesick, too. We snotted up tissues on the bed together and watched Monty Python together. Ten years later, she's still one of my best friends.
More likely than not, most of the people around you are going through the same crap. Have a cry, go run or whatever calms you down, take a deep breath, and go put yourself out there a little. It'll get better.
i moved by myself and lived halfway across the world where people barely spoke english, i had no friends or anyone to talk to ._.
now THAT was lonely/boring!
suck it up and make some new friends
or you could always invest in a webcam and join a bunch of forums/websites and play a bunch of video games like i did
